Reminders for stations & gallery walks
Please follow directions! Listen! I will not repeat. You should ask at least 2 other people before you ask something I have already said! Don’t run amok and go crazy all over the room! WHISPER VOICES ONLY! **Seriously, I will “Hi Yah” you!
4
Stations Each person will visit the station of each layer of the atmosphere, read the text, and complete their chart. You will have 3.5 minutes at each station.
5
Atmosphere Project You will need to stay in the same groups you were in for your stations Silently moveget into your groups in the room. Make sure you have space!
6
Diagram Final Rubric *grades can be awarded individually if someone does not do their part or is not working collaboratively! *-5 points every time you have to be redirected, out of area, not working with group, or off-topic!
7
Diagram Your team is going to create a diagram of the 5 layers. Who is going to create what layer? - 1 minute to determine/assign. *Note: I can reassign layers as needed. Write names beside each layer of team sheet.
8
Diagram Your team has been given 5 pieces of paper. You will need to assign each layer a specific color ( light blue, orange, dark blue, red, and black). As a group, discuss which layer should be what colors and why based on what you know about each layer. On the right side of the paper make a square that shows the determined color for that layer.
9
Diagram Get the directions for your layer.
Step 1: Use this scale 1mm=1km **NOTE: mm are the small ones! Turn paper like a hotdog Measure the correct centimeters for your layer Draw a straight line across. This will be your layer size. Cut out your layer. If you need more paper, let me know!
10
Diagram On your table, lay out all of your layers.
Decide how you are going to complete the rest of the project. Do you want to go ahead and complete the requirements for each layer and then put the layers together??? *All we are doing is talking, you should not be working yet
11
Put your layers together in the correct order.
STOP! BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER: SHOULD BE IN SAME PLACES IN ALL LAYERS! Put your layers together in the correct order. Discuss & plan how you will show temperature trends in the layer. Will you use curves like in our graphs or color-coded (blue & red) arrows or words? Where will you show air molecule density & air pressure trends? Plan anything else? Temp trend Air molecules & air pressure trends
12
Diagram Step 1: Label your layer! Remember each of you has a specific layer that you are in charge of. Do NOT work on someone elses layer!!!
13
Diagram Step 2: Draw pictures to indicate the unique characteristics of your layer. **Note: some cards may have additional instructions.
14
Diagram Step 3: In the planned section, add the temperature trend for your layer. (Should correlate with earlier plan.)
15
Diagram Step 4: In the planned section, add air molecule density for your layer. (Should correlate with earlier plan.)
16
Diagram Step 5: We learned about the “Pauses” between each layer when we graphed & in our stations. Add your layer’s pause at the top using a dotted line & also label it. ------Tropopause
17
Diagram Step 6: Assemble all of the layers together in the correct order.
18
Diagram Step 7: Draw & label the air pressure trends.
19
Put any final touches you need on your diagram
Tape/Glue your diagram together! Make sure you turn on your rubric sheet in with your diagram.
