November 2015 PROJECT JOURNEY [KEY DEFINING MOMENT #1] The Lab team supported Prime Minister’s office in designing a new approach in its Open Government Strategy. As a result the Government got a prestigious international award for open governance and a strategic collaboration with the Lab has started. Month/ Year CHALLENGE Apathy, lack of trust and participation among citizens Kolba Innovations Lab What is the name of your project? #Inno4Dev: Innovation for Development What is your project about? Support the government in designing innovative solutions to complex challenges; broker new partnerships between public and private sector; enforce the role of end-users (citizens) in key decision making processes. May 2016 April 2016 [KEY DEFINING MOMENT #3] The Lab launched a series of internal idea challenges inside the public service to nudge for innovative solutions from within the system. As a result a pool of policy startups launched inside the System. [KEY DEFINING MOMENT #2] The Lab persuaded the Government to experiment with the design of the next OGP Strategy, by crowdsourcing its design to the citizenry. Month/ Year October/2017 [KEY DEFINING MOMENT #4] Turning government projects into startups by rethinking their business models through World Startup Cup methodology. Approach applied to projects in the Ministry of Education. [KEY DEFINING MOMENT #5] Partnered with the Municipality of Yerevan to use city data for designing smart city solutions. Leading coders and data scientists come together for a 24 hour hacking marathon to create solutions. City Startup launched and hosted by the Municipality. OUTCOMES: A network of emancipated government innovators; a network of proactive citizens around the Lab
