Why Multimedia?
5
FLEMING’S LEARNING STYLES
According to Fleming (2001), there are three types of learning styles Visual Auditory Kinaesthetic
6
Visual Learners Studying notes on overhead slides, reading diagrams and handouts, following a PowerPoint presentation, reading from a textbook, studying alone
7
Auditory Learners Participating vocally in class, reading out loud, studying with a partner or group
8
Kinaesthetic Learning
Performing experiments, acting out a play, standing, moving, studying while performing an activity
9
Multimedia Multimedia combines these three styles
(Visual + Auditory + Kinaesthetic) It presents the textbook in different ways If students have more than one way to identify with something, they remember it more easily Makes everything more ‘real’ Allows for task-based language learning
10
Needs Analysis What do YOUR students need? Why use multimedia in YOUR classroom? What do you want to achieve in YOUR classroom?
