Goals for Year 2 Learn mathematics content more deeply. Learn to recognize key mathematical ideas with which your students are grappling. Explore how core mathematical ideas are developed across the grades. Become familiar with a process for planning a lesson which includes thoughtful consideration of selecting and setting up a task, supporting students’ exploration of the task, and sharing and discussing student solutions of the task. Utilize the PA Standards-Aligned System as a tool in lesson design. Math & Science Collaborative at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit

Professional Practice Norms
Sessions will begin and end on time. We will come to sessions prepared. All ideas are valued. Only one conversation should take place at a time. Listening to and using others’ ideas. Adopting a tentative stance toward practice – wondering versus certainty. Backing up claims with evidence and providing reasoning. Talking with respect yet engaging in critical analysis of teachers and students portrayed. Questions are a sign of strength.
