We’ve Defeated the Aliens…NOW WHAT?
The year is After a huge battle with alien invaders that nearly destroyed the world, people are afraid about what rights they’ll have under a new government. Leaders have decided to create the Pamphlet of Protections to define what rights people will have. Look at the proposed rights. Mark the ten you think should be included:

What do we already know? American Citizens:
Fought the Revolutionary War and WON! Created a brand new Government called The Articles of Confederation (which turned out to be kind of lousy) Created ANOTHER brand new Government called The US Constitution (which turned out to be kind of AWESOME!)

What do we already know? We know that the Federalists and Anti-Federalists debated prior to the Ratification (passing) of the Constitution about adding a Bill of Rights. They both won! The Constitution was passed as it was and they agree that the first thing they would do when it was ratified was add a Bill of Rights.

More Amendments… There have since been many more Amendments added to the Constitution (27 total). We will also be talking about: 13, 14, and 15 – Rights for former slaves and People of Color 19 and 26 – Voting Rights for women and ciizens 18 and older There are 3 main categories of rights in the BILL OF RIGHTS: Individual Freedoms Protections Against Gov’t Abuse and Power Rights of People Accused of Crimes
