Hindenburg Disaster The Hindenburg caught fire and was utterly destroyed within a minute. Of the 97 people on board, 13 passengers and 22 crew-members were killed This occurred in New Jersey on May 6, 1937 and was covered live. First event like this covered as it was happening Such immediate news coverage became a staple in society
