7
Metadata Aware Calculations Financial Reports can format lines based on the position of the member in the outline.
8
Rolling Reports Columns For a rolling report you will always need 2 times the number of rolling periods minus 1. So, for a 3 month rolling report you need 5 columns.
9
Rolling Reports Output The months will roll and the appropriate columns will be displayed based on the suppression. The reason you need so many extra columns is because the year will roll as well.
10
Rolling Reports Suppression Once the columns are built you need to set the suppression options for each column. The suppression needs to be set around the member name that will be displayed in the column based on the members selected. When wrapping around a year you need to suppress all the months when you dont want the column displayed.
11
Bursting Reports The first step in setting up bursting reports is to create a report batch In the Workspace chooseFile then New Document and this window will come up, select batch.
12
Batch Report Choice Select a report from the left and move it to the right with the buttons in the middle to create the list of reports that will be part of your batch
13
Batch Name After you name and save the batch, select Edit andSchedule Batch which will bring up the Schedule Batch window In this window you need to select the frequency you would like the batch to run. This is done in the top half of the window and includes the point of view bar which will dictate what POV the batch uses when it runs
14
Bursting Schedule Options To enable bursting you check theRun Batch for multiple members in the dimension checkbox Then use the member selection area to define the different members the report batch should run for You need to change the drop down to move between dimensions if you want to run the burst for multiple members in multiple dimensions
15
Bursting Delivery Options You may choose multiple delivery options in this section including to print the report Printers need to be set up through the FR print server configuration in 11.1.2.1 If you are bursting large or multiple reports you should enable the zip option
16
Bursting Recipients You can enter recipients via the Add button but you should export the Bursting List file, edit with user name information and re-import it Most companies use Excel to manage the bursting list and then reimport the file as necessary to update the bursts
17
Bursting Monitoring The final step in setting up the schedule are options for the administrator to let them know if the burst ran successfully or not. Most companies only check the box for If Unsuccessful…
18
Report Annotations There are two ways to create new annotations Right Click on an existing cell in a Financial Report Select Show Annotations from under the View menu then select New Annotation from the box at the bottom of the screen
19
Report New Annotation You may enter a title and then any text you would like for the annotation An annotation may also be tagged with a category so that later you can search for specific annotation types
20
Annotation Context Annotations can be set to be cell specific or pertinent to whole dimensions You are not allowed to use member functions for the Annotation Context You can set the context for the data source as a whole or specifically by data source grid combination You can also add attachments to each Annotation
21
Report New Annotation The Annotation Window shows all annotation and if you double click on one the bottom portion of the window will show the whole annotation conversation
22
Planning Annotations Planning annotations can be displayed with a Financial Reports Text Function

Smart View with Reports Charts and Graphs created in Financial Reports can be opened in PowerPoint, Word or Excel and then refreshed as needed. This is very helpful for Management Reporting PowerPoint Presentations Reports connects to multiple Data Sources Smart View is built around one connection per page or sheet or slide but Reports can help solve that problem by allowing multiple data source connections in one report Great Complementary Tool to use with Reports Reports can be exported to Excel in Query Ready Format which make great starting points for Ad-Hoc Analysis
