1. GT SHOULD BE KEPT 4HRS ON TURNING GEAR PRIOR TO STARTUP 2. TO PUT GT ON TURNING GEAR CLICK ON TURNING GEAR “ON” IN MARK V HMI WITH CONTROL MODE IN “OFF” MODE 3. LEAD SELECTED LUB OIL PUMP WILL START 4. LEAD SELECTED MIST ELIMINATOR FAN WILL START AFTER 15SEC 5. TURNING GEAR MOTOR WILL START AFTER LUB OIL PRESSURE IS SENSED OK. 6. THE SSS CLUTCH ENGAGES THE TG MOTOR TO THE TURBINE SHAFT AND ROTATES IT AT 11RPM

PRIOR TO GT START ALWAYS ENSURE PHYSICALLY THAT 1. IGV IS AT MIMIMUM ANGLE “26 DEGREE” 2. 9 TH STAGE BLEED VALVE IS IN OPEN CONDITION 3. IGNITORS ARE RETRACTED INSIDE THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER 4. 6.6KV VOLTAGE IS BEING MAINTAINED WELL ABOVE 5. 8 OR MORE ACHE FANS ARE RUNNING

 START CHECK 0  START CHECK 1  START CHECK 2  START CHECK 3  START CHECK 4  L3STCK - IF START CHECK 0,1,2,3&4 ARE STATISFIED L3STCK WILL PICK UP

 When unit is in ready to start do the following  Clear all outstanding alarm in the alarm list  Main screen start up page  Give master reset  control  start up  mode select -AUTO  Fuel select - GAS  After given master reset start screen will look like

1.STATIC FREQUENCY CONVERTER 2.LOAD COMMUDATED INVERTER 3.DIESEL ENGINE

 It is starting device for GT  GT is not a self starting machine  It requires external device to accelerate and take it to self sustaining speed.  It will active once L4 picks up, Mark V will give command to SFC – GT Starts  It will stop once L52 SFC is zero

BY ENGAGING  Before giving start command we have to engage the brush lifting motor  By engaging the brush lifting motor we have to rotate anticlockwise  After brush toughed the rotor then bypass switch is provided to get the feedback  After on the bypass switch K44 Relay will glows.

BY DISENGAGING  One L52 SFC picked up zero we have to disengaging the brush lifting motor to rotate clockwise  After brush came away from the rotor then bypass switch is provided to get the feedback  After OFF the bypass switch K45 will glows.

 After giving the start command in the Master control. The following sequence take place in the GT  1.CRANKING & PURGING  2.FIRING  3.WARM UP  4.ACCELERATION  5.FSNL

FSNL TNH PURGING WARM UP TIME CRANKING ACCELERATION FIRING

 Once start command given mark v will check 30 sec various subsystem including controllers, vibration monitoring, fire protection etc.  Emergency lube oil pump will get start and stopped after checking its discharge pressure ok  Lead selected hydraulic oil pump will be started

 SFC will increase the speed based on the mark v command  At 8.5 % speed gas leak test A and B will performed  If gas leak test is ok GT speed will increase to 14% of nominal speed @800rpm

Principle of SRV control 20 SRV Fuel Off base shut off valve GCV 20VG vent

 What is GLT A ? > It is the test for SRV Logic > Off base shut off Valve will be opened, > SRV remains full closed >If P2 Pressure increases more than 6.8 in 30 sec, GLTA Fails. (L86GLTA  L94GLTSU) 21

 What is GLT B ? > It is the test for all the 3 GCV’s and Vent Valve (20VG) to check Passing Logic > SRV opened for 1 sec and closes back >P2 Pressure will increase to input pressure. After 30 secs if the pressure falls more than (10bar) GLT B Failed. > L86GLTB  L94GLTSU 22

 14 HM speed relay will picked up the following lead selected fans will start a.turbine compartment fan b. load gear compartment fan c. Exhaust frame and no. 2 bearing area cooling fan.  Turning gear motor will stop. 90vtk valve will remain close

 SFC will increase GT speed to 30% of nominal speed (1500 rpm )  GT will remain in this speed for purging COLD START >Turbine is Started after 3.5 hours from flame out  Purge Speed- 30% (1500 rpm)  Duration of Purge- 7.5 Minutes  HOT START >Turbine is Started within 3.5 hours from flame out  Purge Speed- 17% (900 rpm)  Duration of Purge- 12.0 Minutes.

1. After the purge time SFC will decrease the GT speed to firing speed (@800rpm). 2. While coming down to firing speed purge air compressor will start. 3. On reaching firing speed igniters will be activated 4. Mark V will set FSR for firing value and accordingly SRV and Primary GCV will be open to the firing requirement. 5. Flame establishment will be confirmed by minimum 2 out of 4 flame detectors pick up. 6. Mark V will set FSR to acceleration and GT speed will increase assisted by SFC, following the acceleration slope. 7. SFC will cut off at 86% of nominal speed.

1. At 78% corrected speed Secondary GCV will open and DLN-2 status will change to lean-lean mode. 2. IGV will start opening at 86% corrected speed at the rate of 5.27 degree/%age corrected speed to 48Degree. 3. At 95% of nominal speed 14 HS speed relay will pick up. ◦ Inlet bleed heating will start. ◦ Exhaust frame cooling valve 90VTK will open. ◦ Excitation will be switched ON and 11.5KV will be available at GT generator terminals. ◦ 9th stage bleed valve VA2-1 will close.

1. On reaching 100.3% nominal speed GT will be on FSNL. 2. Once GT is on FSNL, GT is synchronised from the Synchronous page in Mark V. 3. The Generator voltage and frequency should be within the limit as compared to grid 4. Generator voltage can be adjusted from GCP. 5. Line breaker 52L(652) should be in deselected condition. 6. Select Synchronous Mode to AUTO. 7. Once the entire 9 Auto permissive are satisfied GT will be synchronised to Grid. 8. As soon as GT is synchronised, Synchronous Mode will go to OFF, and GT will be loaded to spinning reserve 7.5MW. 9. Generator will be in Voltage Control (OFF) mode

1.If it is a cold start up GT will remain at 7.5MW for 30mins heat soak (timer starts once GT had reached FSNL). If it is a hot start GT can be loaded immediately. 2. As GT load starts increasing the following parameters to be monitored closely.  Bearing Vibrations.  Lube oil and bearing temperatures. Start more ACHE fans.  Exhaust Temperatures and spread. 3. With the increase in exhaust temperature IGV will open further and IBH will start closing

 Once the Reference temperature reaches around 1177°C DLN-2 Status will change to Piloted Premix mode.  GT can be further loaded. NOx emissions will be high in this mode.  On reaching Reference Temperature around 1232°C DLN-2 status can be selected to Premix steady state by clicking Piloted Premix OFF in DLN page provided the gas inlet temperature is 65°C.  The following events happen while DLN-2 Status transfers to Premix steady state.  Primary GCV closes.  Gas purge valves VA13-1 and VA13- 2 opens.  Gas purge vent valve closes  Quaternary GCV opens GT can be further loaded till the FSR comes to temperature control. GT can be selected to BASE
