Effect Of Wind Load On High Rise Buildings PRESENTED BY, SRUTHI SIVAKUMAR ROLL NO : 20 SECM,S3, M TECH SJCET,PALAI GUIDED BY, Mrs.MARIAMOL KURIAKOSE ASSISTANT PROFESSOR DEPT.OF CIVIL ENGINEERING SJCET,PALAI

INTRODUCTION Structural engineers need to consider the effect of wind forces on civil engineering structures. These studies are conducted to first evaluate the dynamic effect of wind on the structure and then to optimize the design to mitigate these effects. Wind is essentially the large scale horizontal movement of free air. It play an important role in design of tall structures because it exerts loads on buildings.
3
As per ASCE guideline for wind load calculation 3sec gust speed at 10m above the ground is considered. Structures in wind are subjected to forces which vary with time and space.
4
Wind load Depends upon :- Velocity and density of the air Height above ground level Shape and aspect ratio of the building Topography of the surrounding ground surface Angle of wind attack building Solidity ratio or openings in the building
