Pet peeves Why is it that some people: ₋always talk about how much things cost? ₋never help clean up after a party? Pet peeves are things that always annoy you. Examples: People who talk while their mouth is full. When a light is left on in a room that isn’t being used.

Past modals of possibility: MAY / MIGHT / COULD HAVE We use may, might, and could: When something is possible, but we don’t know for sure. FORM: maymightcouldhavepast participle Subject + may / might / could + have + past participle. She may have gotten lost. He might have made a mistake. They could have arrived. We use couldn’t have when we are more certain. She couldn’t have been sick.
