Title:
Middle School Math Lesson Plan

3. Purpose
To make good use of what I have learned from this course, by creating a Math lesson plan using Technology, namely, a webquest
To comprehend about what exactly a webquest is, its practical objectives as well as the efficient usage in class
To prepare myself with knowledge and skills in future teaching and enhance professional developmental experience in connecting technology and education

4. Ideas from
A web site called “Mathcounts”, which works for 7-8th Grade Mathematics. They create a title with math problems every week for teachers, students and parents, and provide answers after a week goes by.
The problems I use in the lesson plan are 3 real-problems created by the characters from the hot issue presently – Harry Potter Movie

5. Before class
Search for the text materials of 8th Grade Math, and review the Math concepts for the grade
Discuss this lesson plan with a teacher who is teaching Math in a middle school, for better teaching experience in class
Create a worksheet correspond to the problems from the web page

7. Where
A sound computer classroom is necessary for this class since I want every student to participate in using computers to enhance their interests in learning difficult math concepts, as well as be able to practice by themselves at home
A projector is also necessary for a trailer

8. Who
Students need basic skills in using a computer and exploring Internet experience

9. How
Explain today’s learning objectives and do a quick review on the required math concepts and computer skills
Play a 2-minute trailer to draw students’ attention (optional if time is not enough)

10. Specify the URL of the web page where the real-problems are located, and let students start searching
Make sure each student find the page and give extra help for who cannot find it
Explain the problems and give hints for solving skills

11. Let students think about and practice the problems by themselves on the worksheet
Peer discussions are allowed
Give the URL where the answers are located, and let students search again

12. Make sure students understand the calculation of the problems
Collect the worksheets after class and check the answers
Find common problems from the sheets and make a clarification in next class
