Course Breakdown The Higher course is broken down into two internal units: Performance Skills Factors Impacting on Performance (FIP)

Course Assessment Performance Skills Unit: The assessment consists of:
Planning & Preparation Paper – 8 Marks Special Performance – 40 Marks Evaluating Paper – 12 Marks This is the area of the course where pupils do best in…which activity will allow you to access most marks? Two practical activities to ‘Pass’.

Performance Skills Unit
Each student must achieve a ‘PASS’ in two activities. The special performance (40Marks) is judged on the following criteria: Skill repertoire Control and fluency Decision-Making Following through with decisions Rules and regulations Control of emotions

Course Assessment Factors Impacting Performance Unit
The assessment consists of: 8 outcomes to PASS. These are marked by PE staff and, in order to pass, you must write in line with, or above, the ‘minimum competency’ standard.

FIP Unit Each student will have to pass the following eight outcomes:
Analyse methods used to identify FIP Evaluate the impact of factors on performance Explain approaches used to develop performance. Produce a PDP with goals/targets included Select methods to record and monitor development Carry out PDP Evaluate PDP and monitoring methods Identify and justify future development needs.

Course Assessment The External Exam Paper
Based on the FOUR factors – mental, emotional, social and physical (MESP). 40 marks or 40% of your overall mark. Section 1 (24 Marks) – 3 Questions Section 2 (16 Marks) – Scenario Question

So How Do I Get My Overall Grade?
You are aiming to access as many marks as possible out of 100. 8 Marks – Planning & Preparation Paper 40 Marks – Special Performance 12 Marks – Evaluating Paper 40 Marks – Exam Paper And that’s it!

Cut-off Marks… 74% or above – Higher A 64% or above – Higher B
54% or above – Higher C 44% or above – Higher D

Some Interesting Stats…
2014/15… 95% of S4 students achieved a National 5 A. 48% of S5/6 Pupils achieved a Higher A. Big drop…what are you aspiring towards in Higher PE this year? What are you going to do to get there?

Tuesday Period 7 – Hockey (Skills) Wednesday Period 6 – Hockey (Fitness) Thursday Period 6 – Theory (Comp 2) Thursday Period 7 – Hockey (data collection within the game)
