2 Background Since 1953 C&F statistics in NL 1990s: C&F statistics got outdated New system needed: –Create more complete overview –Relate better to society developments –Usable in policy analysis –Better links to SNA/ESA –Provide international comparable data Decision: new statistical system based on SHA

3 Goals Complete, consistent, coherent integrated description of health (and social) care Linking to integrated NA; Linking to budgetary frameworks of MoH and an increased international comparability (SHA)

4 Starting points Definition of Care: create the boundary of the system(s); in activities performed Economic units i.e. providers are core; containers of information; Expenditure measured as society burden Added to providers are financing agents and functions (clusters of activities)

13 Conclusions Every goal needs its own data set Possible to create data system to serve all goals Starting in HP is possibility, but not only solution Data need to be policy relevant
