When God’s People Suffer
Exodus 2:23-25

1. God HEARD Their Groaning
“The Lord was moved to pity by their groaning” (Judges 2:18). “the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord” (James 5:4). God is always paying attention to His people.

2. God REMEMBERED His Covenant
Genesis 15:13-18 God “remembered His holy promise” (Psalm 105:42). 2 Timothy 2:11-13 God has “given to us exceedingly great and precious promises” (2 Pet. 1:4).

3. God LOOKED Upon Them Exodus 3:16, 4:31 Psalm 34:15-16
“Looked” means “knowing firsthand.” God sees and knows everything we endure.

4. God ACKNOWLEDGED Them “had respect unto” (KJV)
“took notice of them” (NASB) “knew” (ESV)

4. God ACKNOWLEDGED Them The Hebrew word came to mean “to approve,” thus God was acknowledging them as His people. The Hebrew word also meant “to know by experience,” indicating God was suffering along with them (Acts 9:4).

Lessons For Today God is ever-present, even when it seems He is not.
God does hear our prayers, even when we cannot see His answers. God acknowledges our pain and suffering. He cares. Things happen on God’s time-table, not ours. God keeps His promises.
