Project Title:
Pedelec Corridor "Replacing commuter cars with electric bicycles in Berlin-Brandenburg”
Facts:
Biggest German project for testing and granting of e- bikes (pedelecs) to replace cars in business travel
Aim of the project is to survey the willingness of commuters to change from car to e-bike

3. PEDELEC CORRIDOR BERLIN SOUTHWEST
Brief Description
This project will collect experience in the use of pedelecs to replace commuter automobile trips.   
The pedelec, will be integrated into intermodal mobility concepts.

Focus area: Berlin Southwest (Steglitz-Zehlendorf) and southern suburbs Teltow, Kleinmachnow, Stahnsdorf

5. PEDELEC CORRIDOR BERLIN SOUTHWEST
Project runtime: from spring 2014 up to autumn 2015 (four test cycles)
Core project of the German showcase region e-mobility Berlin Brandenburg
In the project area are located companies, offices, education units

6. PEDELEC CORRIDOR BERLIN SOUTHWEST
Central Idea:
Employees of participating companies and institutions will get a specified number of e-bikes for one of the test cycles for a low rental fee per month.
The usage behaviour will be evaluated.
The needed infrastructure (parking facilities, charging infrastructure) will be provided.

The current situation of cycling in Berlin:
Bicycle lanes along the streets, divided by white stripes
Bike shelters at some public transport stations
Conflicts between bikes and buses

8. PEDELEC CORRIDOR BERLIN SOUTHWEST
Focus Areas
Install secure pedelec parking spaces at selected S- and U-Bahn stations and central locations.
Establish pedelec-friendly cycle routes along Berlin's southwestern corridor (District of Steglitz-Zehlendorf) and in the adjacent communities of Teltow, Kleinmachnow, and Stahnsdorf.

9. PEDELEC CORRIDOR BERLIN SOUTHWEST
Document the use and acceptance of pedelecs through targeted accompanying research.
Transfer knowledge related to the overall pedelec system through expert workshops, informational events, and a portal of the Berlin Senate
