Så här kommer Vägverkets organisation att se ut 1 juli 2008 efter införandet av ny organisation och förberedelser inför bildandet av Transportinspektionen m m. Utvecklingsorganisationen som bildas i samband med Vägverkets omorganisation kommer att ledas av Tom Ramstedt och drar igång sin verksamhet 1 juli. Utvecklingsorganisationen kommer att svara för att personalomställningarna sker på ett verkningsfullt sätt både för arbetsgivare och medarbetare.
Övergångsorganisationen är en temporär organisation som bildas för medarbetare som kommer att övergå till Transportinspektionen och i dag inte tillhör Trafikregistret eller Förarenheten. Övergångsorganisationen kommer att vara verksam mellan 1 maj och 31 december Janeric Reyier kommer att leda övergångsorganisationen fram till att verksamheterna och personalen flyttas över till Transportinspektionen när den startar 1 januari 2009.

3. Operational division: Society
Society is a national operational division in charge of:
Planning, investigations, operations & maintenance, sectoral and public authority issues
All investment orders received by the Roads operational division

Strengthening customer-orientated development and planning
Developing common work methods and solutions that result in better homogeneity and efficiency
Influencing the interchange between national and regional work

5. Society has seven regional offices
The regions are: the Northern, Central, Stockholm, Mälardalen, South-Eastern, Western and Skåne Regions
The regions attend to daily client contact with regard to community development, planning, investigations, sectoral and public authority issues, and running operations and maintenance.
The regional offices are in charge of the bulk of business projects carried out in the respective regions.

Discussions with Banverket began during 7-8 November to explore cooperation opportunities between the two organisations. Michael Gedda headed the effort between Banverket and Vägverket to review how well cooperation is working currently and how it could be improved. Jan Hertting was the main representative from Banverket during these discussions. The starting point for these discussions was a "cooperation stairway" that showed how cooperation could increase in stages. The first stage discussed was "consultation as needed." The second stage is "ongoing consultation." The third stage is "common work methodology." The fourth stage is "shared resources." Finally, the fifth stage is a "common organisation." The "cooperation stairway," made it possible to assess the areas where cooperation would be easiest, along with the areas that would require more effort.
Future development of cooperation?
It is hoped that discussions with Banverket will result in a proposal for a common project directive for continued cooperation efforts between the two organisations. Together with Banverket, a proposed project directive is being developed. This will be discussed in the leadership group on 3 November. On 10 December, each General Director will evaluate the directive and proposed level of future cooperation.
