Project Vision The Hale Street Link Alliance will build a landmark, inner city bridge to enhance accessibility and livability in Brisbane.

What is HSL? Cost :$370 million Duration:July 2008-July 2010 Connection:Cross-river connection from Coronation Drive and Hale Street in Milton, to Montague Road, Merivale and Cordelia Streets in South Brisbane Key features: Four tolled traffic lanes Coronation Drive overpass Dedicated cycle and pedestrian links Equitable access

Connections… The bridge is designed to increase accessibility to and from some of Brisbanes most popular recreational, cultural, educational and residential precincts including South Bank, West End, Caxton Street and Park Road.

Northern connection New bridge intersection and associated road works Upgrade to surrounding paths and bikeways – ramps built providing equitable access to and from the bridge Outbound overpass with two lanes bypassing existing outbound traffic lights at Hale Street Boomerang Street overpass remains in operation

Southern connection Road works to Cordelia and Merivale streets to be one-way arrangements Re-alignment of Cordelia and Boundary streets at Montague Road Upgrade to surrounding paths and bikeways Development of public car parks

Bridge Concrete balanced cantilever bridge 2 bridge piers 300 metres long, 27 metres high and approximately 15 metres high above high tide mark Build from a temporary jetty on the southern side and by barge on the northern side

Current Status Final project design approved in July Bridge works began on the southern pier South side works include roadworks and car parks North side works include vegetation clearing and relocations and shared path works on Coronation Drive

What to expect during construction Removal of the right hand turn from Hale Street to Coronation Drive in January 2009. It will be reinstated on bridge opening Overpass construction– November 2009 to March 2010 during university holidays and Xmas period. There will be significant delays to Coronation Drive during this period and 24/7 construction Periodic weekend and night time lane closures along Coronation Drive and Hale Street when required
