2. What is SPRINT
A consultative and interventional service made of mental health professionals.
SPRINT is designed to deploy rapidly, provide on-site mental healthcare, and improve crew readiness.

3. When to Call SPRINT
Following a traumatic event in which there is significant concern by command leadership for the mental health of the crew
AND local mental health resources are likely inadequate for level of expected psychological impact and/or emotional responses to the traumatic event
Examples: occupational mishaps, suicide, homicide, natural disasters, accidental death

4. Who is SPRINT
Active duty mental health professionals who care for sailors and marines everyday throughout the Hampton Roads area
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Behavioral Health Technicians, Chaplains, Social Workers, Religious Program Specialists
Augmentation is available from Fleet Surgical Teams, residents, interns, and local clinics

PRIOR to official activation
Requesting command should be prepared to provide:
Nature of the incident
Impacted crew size, OpTempo, morale
Local resources exhausted
Requested SPRINT arrival date
Any constraints or limitations (underways, security, PPE requirements, etc.)

6. Logistics of SPRINT DISTANT >100 miles from Portsmouth, VA

Team arrives via travel arranged by requesting command and NMCP POMI

7. On-site Support of SPRINT

8. Typical SPRINT Timeline
2-3 days after traumatic event and consultation with SPRINT OIC/AOIC has resulted in SPRINT activation: 0800-SPRINT arrives and in-briefs with leadership triad to further discuss mutual goals of the visit 0830-SPRINT introduces themselves to the crew in a large group/s 0840-SPRINT meets identified at-risk personnel and begins to make themselves available in crew spaces SPRINT is available in designated space and in work spaces for small group or individual meetings 1300-SPRINT members meet to discuss interventions, impressions, and areas of concern SPRINT is available in designated space and in work spaces for small group or individual meetings SPRINT out-brief with leadership triad and departs

9. After SPRINT
After Action Report will be provided to NAVMEDEAST & the Requesting Command CO
Identified individuals may be seen in local clinics
SPRINT may be re-consulted after a period of evaluation by the command and/or local medical resources
