Welcome back to the new NSC!
During this half term our topic will be ‘Dinosaur Planet’ - Please see the full topic web. This half-term we will be focusing on all things ‘prehistoric’. We will be learning all about different types of dinosaurs and researching their different characteristics. We will be learning the names of some commonly known dinosaurs, prehistoric animals and creatures. Furthermore, we will also be looking at the animals and creatures which have survived and adapted since the dinosaur era. Class 2 will be given the opportunity to research the history of dinosaurs through to their extinction and will be analysing famous researcher’s findings and looking at fossils. In science we will be investigating how different planting conditions alter how seeds develop into plants and we will be keeping a seed diary to record the growth, features and colour of the plants. We will also be learning the names of and identifying varieties of common wild and garden plants as well as being able to identify and describe the basic structure of common flowering plants and trees. Our art and design will focus mainly on observational drawings and we will most likely complete observational drawing working with model dinosaurs aiming to make them look realistic in any given setting. In computing we will be using digital cameras to take photographs and then using software to manipulate and edit the images. We will also be using a variety of software to complete some dinosaur themed animation. The class will also continue to use the software Scratch allowing the Sprites to move around the screen following the instructions set by the children. In PE we will continue to attend the Lords Meadow Leisure Centre to participate in various sports training including: swimming, gymnastics and outdoor games. As always any queries you have please come and see us. Thanks, Mr. Hookway
