2 What Is A “F.I.S.H. Tournament?”
A F.I.S.H. Tournament is a competitive fishing tournament for states, districts, schools and students participating in the National Fishing in Schools Program.

Projected participants: LPS “Outstate” schools outside Lincoln: 50? Total est = 400 2 Competition venues: Indoor – Cook Pavilion, UNL Outdoor – Bowling Lake or Holmes Lake Structure: 2 Groups of participants: Group A = 200; comprised of +/- 20 teams of 10 each (outstate schools < 10?) Group B = 200; comprised of +/- 20 teams of 10 each (outstate schools < 10?) Each group comprised of students from each participating school – i.e., students from each school will be split between the 2 groups so as to compete with other schools at each venue Schedule: Session Time Indoor venue Outdoor venue Morning session 9-11 AM Group A Group B Afternoon session 1-3 AM Awards (Cook) 4-5 PM

Transportation LPS – 5 schools? Other non-Lincoln schools Staff/volunteers School staff: # teachers per school/per team = ratio of students to school staff = 1:10 ? Volunteer staff: “fill in” for school staff when necessary Staff is “group specific” – i.e., move with each group between the 2 venues Total supervisory “bodies” needed = +/- 40 Lunch – UNL ? Store-next-to-LPS? Rod outfits: Outdoors – need one outfit for each student = 200 Indoors – fixed number at each of the 5 events; requires +/- 50 rods Total rods needed = 250 outfits Sources for rods: each school bring their own rods: 10/school X 5 LPS = 50 (LSW has ___); outstate will have 10 each Fishing licenses Sponsors – Schools /students must have completed the NFSP course in order to participate

Each student pre-registers for the tournament On NFSP site? NGPC? School? Each is assigned a competitor number in advance: ID’s school, grade, division (male/female) Consider having everyone come to/start from a central location, such as Cook Pavilion at UNL, at start of the day: Brief “briefing” for all Pick up registration/competitor badges Scorecards: 1 Outdoor Scorecard, 1 Indoor Scorecard Competitor Packet of materials: flies, hat/t-shirt, etc. “Scorekeepers” Outdoor venue: 1 for every “group” of 10 Indoor venue: 1 for each competitive event station – 2 to 10 for the 5 contests Scoring done by 2 master data scorekeepers on spreadsheets; 1 outdoor, 1 indoor results Prizes & Awards School Division Winners; top 1-2 places: Elementary School, Middle School, High School Individual Winners in each of the 3 Divisions; male and female; top 1-3 places “Competitor Packet” for each student: box of competition flies, leader ?, hat?, t-shirt, etc.
