Accuracy vs. Precision Accuracy Precision How close a measured value is to the actual or known value. Ex: If you measure something to be 4.6kg, but it’s known mass is 9kg, your measurement is not accurate. How close measured values are to one another. Ex: If you measure something to be exactly 4.6kg four times in a row, your measurement is precise, because the measurements were the same each time you repeated it.

Outliers These are numbers that are far away from the others in a data set. They will only happen in experiments where there are multiple trials. They can affect the conclusion or may sometimes be excluded from the data set.
