What? The Microsoft IT Academy Program is a complete technology education solution connecting students, teachers, employers and local communities through a lifelong learning model of leading-edge technology skills development.
Why? The program was developed to bridge the gap between education and the real-world by equipping students with the IT skill sets they need for successful careers in today’s technology centered job market, and providing professional development resources for educators.
Who? Membership is open to public or private K-12 schools, vocational schools, correspondence schools, junior colleges, colleges, universities, or scientific/technical schools that are institutionally accredited by an accrediting agency nationally recognized by an educational standards body or government organization. The program is also available to libraries, museums and teaching hospitals with educational programs.

For the last year, piloted with Ireland and Russia. To date over 5000 educators have studied over 25,000 hours. Over 2500 have sat for certification.
Aligned to the UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Teachers, Technology Literacy Strand
Enables more personalized professional development with self-assessment
While there is 36 hours of eLearning content, the average teacher in the pilot only required 20% of the content
The certification is a valid and reliable assessment of educator competencies as defined in the Technology Literacy Strand of UNESCO ICT-CFT.
There are two places to access the Teaching with Technology Curriculum. Either on the Partners in Learning Network or via IT Academy. While accessing the content is free on the network, you will not be able to track educator progress or get reporting as you can via the IT Academy member site. In addition, for those that have an IT Academy site license, there are all of the other Microsoft official curriculums that educators and students can access to further build their competency in IT skills development.
