First I would like to give you a brief history of our architecture
First I would like to give you a brief history of our architecture. In 2013, Wisconsin purchase the EXADATA/EXALOGIC X3s to host the PeopleSoft implementation. Wisconsin untilizes 2 Datacenters, our primary DC – is home to the production systems, and our secondary site is used primarily for Disaster Recovery. While we were assessing the architecture needs for the PeopleSoft implementation, we wanted to utilized the Maximum Available Architecture Oracle had documented. After much design and discussion, the slide you see before you is what we built, a hybrid MAA that allows Wisconsin to utilize and switch between the two datacenters in under 12 minutes. The purpose, is to allow us during server patching to switch between the primary and secondary keeping the production system available to our users with the least amount of down time. Having the PIA architecture replicated in both locations and using Active Data Guard allows us this functionality. In 2016 we needed to replace the old X3s due to end of life with X7s. We did not go to the cloud with our PeopleSoft because we found that our MAA architecture couldn’t be built at the time of decision and that we could not move as rapidly for patching as we wanted, we purchased and have the X7 on prem.

Oracle Management cloud
Why Oracle Management Cloud What am I getting and taken advantage of App Performance Monitoring Infrastructure Monitoring Log Analytics Orchestration It Analytics Configuration & Compliance Security Monitoring & Analytics Wisconsin looked into improving our performance and having more insight into activities occurring within PeopleSoft. Our customers want patching and fixes applied with the least amount of disruption to the system as possible and to shorten the testing time as well. With OMC we can deliver more accurate information to our Agency customers where data performance is an issue. Our technicians now have the information available to them to diagnose problems and offer solutions.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES TO CREATE exacc instances
Cannot shrink instance OCPUs after creation Cannot shrink instance disk allocation after creation First DB Instance created on the VM Cluster determines the Grid infrastructure version. IMPORTANT TO specify the highest version DB that you expect to implement on the cluster.
