Goal: To exceed expectations for more members
23
Exceed member expectations by:
Increasing advocacy efforts with government using an “Exercise First” 2018 Provincial Election Strategy followed by a 2nd QP Day (Kin week) Increasing eLearning opportunities that are more accessible (varied times, low-to-no cost) Exploring partnership opportunities with software companies like Hexfit to establish low-cost pricing for OKA members Prioritize engagement with like-minded organizations such as the OCDPA and AFHTO
24
2017 Financial Statement Review
Presented by OKA President Elect, Krista Crozier, R.Kin
25
Main points of interest:
1: Once again membership numbers were increased resulting in an overall rise in membership dues revenue of over $ Despite a reduction in education related revenue, increases in product sales, career postings, and advertising, coupled with strong membership revenues helped the association remain modestly profitable. 2: Continued financial management by the OKA Board of Directors and OKA staff, again resulted in an overall reduction in expenses. This reduction, coupled with revenue increases will allow the association to maintain and increase its promotional and advocacy efforts on behalf of its members. 3: By managing and controlling revenue over expenses the OKA Board of Directors has passed a 2018 budget that will see the association remain as the voice of kinesiology in Ontario, and also address several areas highlighted in the recent membership survey so that we can continue to meet the needs of you, the member.
26
Motion to approve the 2017 Financial Statement as presented for the year ending December 31, 2017
27
Each year the membership is required to approve the appointment of the auditor at the Annual General Meeting. R&C Chartered Accountants (formerly Roetsch & Company) has consistently delivered the financial statement in accordance with the timelines and expectations that the Board has set for them. The Board of Directors is recommending the appointment of R&C Chartered Accountants as the association’s financial auditor.
28
Motion to appoint R&C Chartered Accountants as the OKA Auditor for the year ending December 31, 2018
29
Proposed Bylaw Change – 2018
Rationale: In order to increase the operational capacity of the Board of Directors it is proposed that the maximum number of Directors allowed be increased from the current twelve (12) individuals, to a new maximum of fourteen (14). This increased capacity will allow for more resources to be allocated to current initiatives which in turn will enable OKA to better serve the requirements of the membership and profession. Under Section 6.1 – Directors: Remove the line “comprised of a minimum of eight (8) and a maximum of twelve (12) Directors” Replace with “comprised of a minimum of eight (8) and a maximum of fourteen (14) Directors”
