What is loss of licence?
Provides financial support to Air Traffic Controllers in the event their license is lost due to an accident or illness
Why is it needed?
Air Traffic Controllers are unlikely to easily transfer their skills to other professions, thus the loss of a licence can have significant implications on earning potential
Designed to overcome the restricted coverage of more traditional products like income protection and critical illness insurance
Designed to provide 24 hours coverage, unlike workmans compensation which is restricted to workplace accidents
When does it pay out?
In the event of temporary or long term inability to continue as an air traffic controller
How much does it pay out?
Temporary disability: monthly benefit equal to 2% of the sum insured not exceeding 75% of pilot’s net monthly pay
Long term disability: remainder of the sum insured (after any Temporary Total Disablement (TTD) payments) as a lump sum
