1 IM Indoor Soccer Rules Winter 2018

2 The Game 6 v 6 Two 14-minutes halves ( teams shall change of end of court at start of second half) Half time period of no more than 2-minutes No time-outs No offside rule in effect for intramural play Clock stopped for injuries During the last 1 minute of the second half, stop time will be used if the score is within 3 goals for: Ball out of bounds Goal scored Fouls Infractions Penalty kick awarded Player carded

3 Co Rec and Grad Staff Gender Ratios
CoRec Competitive Leagues must play a 3:3 gender ratio Legal ratios are 3:3, 3:2, 3:1 CoRec Recreational Leagues must play a 4:2 gender ratio Legal ratios are 4:2, 4:1, 3:3, 3:2, 3:1 CoRec Competitive and CoRec Grad Staff shall not exceed three players per gender on the court at all times. The gender of the goal keeper does not matter CoRec Res Hall league shall have NO gender requirements

4 Start of Play Coin Toss (choice of side or ball)
Kick-off (kicked backwards to a teammate)

5 The Playing Court and Equipment
All games are played in the MAC No dark soled shoes Athletic attire required (no jeans, shorts, or button shirts allowed) No hard casts No jewelry Can play off walls IM office will furnish one ball for the purpose of each game

6 The Players and Substitutes
No more than 6 players at one time, one of whom must be goalkeeper Fewer than 3 players will result in a forfeit Each indoor soccer participant may compete for only two teams, one men’s OR women’s team and one CoRec team during the season Substitutions are unlimited and on the fly (during play) or when the ball is out of play Substitution of goal keepers must be reported to the official, either by another player on the court changing places with the goalkeeper or by the substitution from the team bench Eligibility All current UC Davis Registered Fee-paying students, valid CRU Card holders are eligible to participate

7 Ball In and Out of Play The ball is deemed out of play:
When the ball goes out of bounds into the substitution area When the game has been stopped by the referee; the referee shall blow the whistle when the ball is put of play When the ball hits the lights, ducts, ceiling, rafters, basketball hoops, etc. When the ball hits above the ledge or initial brick wall The ball is in play at all other times

8 Tie Game Procedures Regular Season 3-person shootout
If shootout ends in a tie, then alternating one player penalty kicks will continue until a winner results **CoRec Modification: “coin toss” in which the winner decides either who will shoot first OR which gender will begin shooting. The 3-person shootout will continue with alternating gender. Playoffs One 5-minute sudden death overtime period will be played with the clock stopped in the last 1 minute of the overtime period If score remains tied, a shootout will occur, where each team will be awarded 5 alternating penalty shots each penalty shot must be taken by a different player on each team (CoRec: 1st and 2nd shooters must be of opposite gender) Goalie selected may not be changed between kicks Shots must be taken within 5-seconds of referees whistle

9 Forfeits Non-appearance
A team that has less than four players at game time (gender ratio in effect) Last appearance (teams must arrive at the site of the scheduled game within five minutes of scheduled game time) Cancellation of contest with less than 24 business hours notice to IM office Fine of $20 (teams captains will be held responsible for the payment of the fine)

10 Blue Cards 1-minute-30 second power play penalty
Penalty can end when the team with the number advantage scores Three blue cards issued to the same player during the course of the game equal one red card, and the player is ejected When blue cards are given: Attempts to kick an opponent Strikes, elbows, or attempts to strike or elbow an opponent Charging Kicking ball high enough so that it contacts any part of the lights, rafters, air ducts, basketball hoops, etc. Jumping over wall/gate of substitution area

11 Yellow Cards 3-minute misconduct power play penalty
Used when cautioning a player All 3 minutes of the 3-minute power play must be served All penalties carry over from one half to the next Two yellow cards is equivalent to an ejecteion When yellow cards are given: Boarding, i.e. propelling an opponent into the perimeter wall Player persistently infringes upon any rules of the game Player shows dissent by word of mouth or actions to referees’ decisions unsportsmanlike conduct Vulgar or profane language Goalkeeper intentionally striking to attempting to strike an opponent with ball

12 Red Cards Result in an eject and a power play for the remainder of contest Teams may bring on additional players if an ejected player results in the team having less than the minimum number of required players (4)

13 Goalkeeper Privileges and Violations
Carry, strike, or propel ball with hands and arms May not be charged for interfered with Outside the penalty area, goalkeeper has no more privilege than any other player May slide in the box ONLY to make play on ball Violations May not play the ball with hands after releasing until touch by another player Must put ball in play within 6 seconds of taking possession May not intentionally strike opponent by throwing ball The only way a goalie can kick the ball passed half court is if they have the ball at their feet and leave their keeper box

14 Direct or Indirect Free Kicks
Direct Free Kick: one on which a goal can be scored directly from the kick against the offending team Indirect Free Kick: one from which a goal cannot be scored unless the ball has been played or touched by a player (including the goal keeper) other than the kicker before passing through a goal
