Short Service Worker History:
56% of our incidents were from <6 Month Employees Objective: Program that compliments New Hire Orientation and Compliance Training Introduce new employees to the company and facility/work site Provide an ongoing learning opportunity that instills a firm understanding of our safety expectations Solution: Short Service Worker Handbook Program Overview: Employee evaluated with a designated program to complete Given Level Identifier and assigned Mentor (monitored by the Mentor and Program Administrator) Trained on a set prescription that guides them through a 6 week interactive program Assigned daily topics are discussed with the employee utilizing the SSW Discussion Guide Mentor communicates and documents the company and site specific differences while encouraging dialogue with the SSW employee Upon program completion, employee progress is evaluated by management interviews and written Knowledge Check After successful completion, employee graduates and is recognized during group safety meeting

Short Service Worker Categories
SHORT SERVICE WORKER (SSW) New to Brock or Less than 90 days experience at host facility Away from Brock or host facility for more than 6 months Exhibited lack of knowledge and needs to be retrained AT-RISK EMPLOYEE Has completed SSW Program An employee that has less than 6 months with the company Considered “At-Risk” to show the need for additional oversight and mentoring 5 years with company to qualify SAFETY MATURED PERSON (SMP) Addresses company experienced/matured employees Accelerated program for experienced employees with the company but new to the site SAFETY MATURED PERSON (SMP) Graduated from SSW program Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of program Lends support to short service worker MOBILE WORKFORCE Address the unique issues associated with a traveling or mobile workforce Successfully complete SSW and the 6 month At Risk Worker requirements Identify and document any differences between company, site, and client requirements MENTOR / COACH Employee who has shown ability to help others meet expectations Knowledgeable of Company and Client expectations Responsible for day-to-day mentoring, support and overall accountability of SSW

Delivery Design Program designed in handbook format Tracking information on cover Employee Name Book Number Issued Date Program Assignment Handbook is divided into 3 sections Program Mentor Qualifications Discussion Guide

Implementation Handbook Management Handbooks issued to employee
Must keep handbook with them at all times while present at the job site. Handbook will be logged into the SSW Program Tracking Log and the employee activated in the program. Employee evaluated and designated program to complete Designation identified on front of the handbook Given Level Identifier Assigned mentor

Implementation Handbook reviewed to identify the employee’s current status in the program (this will happen daily and each time the SSW changes Mentors). Prescribed information for the day reviewed utilizing the SSW Discussion Guide Mentor will communicate site specific differences and encourage dialog Site specific differences documented Progress documented Handbook returned to the SSW to be used until program completion

Implementation Handbook Completion
Supervisor will complete and sign the Program Completion Form recommending graduation. Administer the appropriate knowledge check Site manager signs the Program Completion Form Employee scheduled for graduation Handbook filed with Knowledge Check
