11 Let’s try it.

12 Successful people read a lot.
Recommended reading Successful people read a lot. The Lean Start Up – Eric Reis. Toyota Way – Jeffrey Liker. The Goal – Eliyahu Goldratt. Mindset – Carol Dweck. The Silo Effect – Gillian Tett. Work Rules – Laszlo Bock. Turn the Ship Around – David Marquet. Triggers – Marshall Goldsmith. The Chimp Paradox – Steve Peters. The Lean start up – about the build, measure, learn cycle and finding product market fit Toyota way – efficient processes and constant refinement of them The Goal – intro to theory of constraints written as a novel Mindset – a great book about cultivating a growth mindset over a fixed mindset, personal development but also good for working in teams The silo effect – About the dangers of building walls between human knowledge repositories (teams) and the benefits of breaking them down and remove deep hierarchy Work Rules – A great read about how Google approaches running a company, some chapters are more useful to private sector but definitely lots of useful content Turn the Ship Around – one of my favorites, about implementing a Leader Leader mentality in a team rather than a traditional Leader Follower model Triggers – personal development, great in combination with: The Chimp Paradox – working with your inner chimp to control distraction, emotional impulse and to get more done.

13 Part 2 - Websites and tools to help your work and productivity

14 = Getting the right stuff done
Why? Time management = Getting stuff done Task management = Getting the right stuff done Collaboration = Getting the right stuff done across teams, locations and time zones. Time management, managing your personal time, increases your chances of getting stuff done Task management, prioritization and consciously deciding what's the most important thing to do next, increases your chances of getting the right stuff done Collaboration increases you chances of getting the right stuff done across members of a team, across locations and across timezones.

16 Focus Pomodoro technique Mindfullness Focus apps Time management
Time management = focus, ways to focus and free stuff that is designed to help you focus. Does anyone speak Italian? Pomodoro technique was developed in the 1980’s. The idea is that frequent breaks can improve mental agility. So you Decide on the task to be done, set a timer for 25 minutes (or your chosen time) – you can use your phone for this Work on that task until the timer rings, if a distraction pops into your head, note it down but immediately get back to the task After the timer rings, put a check mark on a piece of paper If you have less then 4 checks on your paper, take a short 3-5 minute break, if you have 4, take a longer minute break.
