English writer, mathematician Genre: Literary Nonsense Known for word play, and the mingling of logic and fantasy He originally told the story of a young girl who goes on a series of adventures to the daughters of family friend, Henry Liddell One of the girls was named Alice and she begged him to write the story down He did, it was published and became wildly popular

Story Background Alice, a young girl, falls down a rabbit hole
She lands in a world of fantasy and meets a variety of strange, non-human creatures The story is a blend of logic and nonsense It has a unique narrative structure and pace and the imagery and characterization have been widely regarded as revolutionary

Reading Assignments In class we are going to focus on the study of poetry for the next week. Outside of class, you should be reading Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, taking notes as you read and answering the RJ questions The entire novel should be read by Monday, November 2nd
