2 Broad aims of PAS Support integration process
Improve the quality of statistics in Africa, i.e. availability, reliability, comparability, timeliness, etc. Support cooperation within the African Statistical System (ASS) Build capacity of people and institutions Transfer of good practice and common tools Procurement contract of 6.8 mio €, for 42 months, implemented by a consortium under the lead of Expertise France Reminder of main objectives STRONG RESULTS FOCUS

4 SHaSA II adopted in January 2018
SHaSA I: adopted by African Heads of State and Government in July 2009 SHaSA II: - adopted in January 2018 - covering - revision based on lessons learnt (ownership, advocacy, coordination, governance) and new needs (data revolution, big data, Agendas, etc.) New: - role and mandate of AU Statistical Institute - additional Specialised Technical Groups (now 17)

7 Main types of support: Support to methodological work of the SHaSA working groups -> methodological frameworks (guidelines, manuals, questionnaires…) in 5 priority domains Technical assistance missions (e.g. for tools, frameworks; knowledge transfer) Training (of trainers), workshops and seminars Assistance to African Union Commission's statistics division (AUSTAT) in the coordination of activities of the African Statistical System (ASS) (peer reviews, working groups) in setting-up the AU Statistical Institute
