2. AP Implementation
What’s Happening? In the school year, our school will be one of 800 to implement new Advanced Placement Program annual processes, which include fall exam ordering deadlines. Additionally, our AP teachers will have access to an online question bank and other resources to help students practice for AP Exams. Shaping the Future of AP These processes and resources will be available to all AP schools in the school year, one year after our school adopts them. At key points this year, we’ll have opportunities to give feedback to the College Board.

3. 2018-19 AP Implementation: What you need to know
Fall exam ordering deadlines: The priority and regular ordering deadlines for 2019 AP Exams are in the fall this year.
There are no additional fees, unless exams are ordered late or canceled: The current exam fee remains the same, but students need to know that fees may apply for exams that are ordered after November 15 or canceled by March 1.
There are new AP classroom resources: We get early access to resources like an AP question bank.
Exams and score reporting stay the same: This implementation does not impact the exams our students will take. Scores will be reported on the usual timelines.

4. 2018-19 AP Implementation: Benefits for our school
Streamlined exam ordering: AP students and teachers will complete a short online registration process in the first weeks of class. Our AP coordinator will use that information to create the school’s exam order.
Time savings: We’ll receive personalized student registration labels (AP ID labels). These labels will reduce time-consuming bubbling of student information on or before exam day.
Free resources and supports: We’ll have access to a new online question bank and performance results. AP Calculus and World History teachers will receive additional resources, including unit guides and unit tests developed by AP.
Student engagement: Committing to exams at the start of a course is a best practice policy at more than half of all schools offering AP. At these schools, a student is both more likely to take the exam and more likely to earn a score of 3 or higher.

5. 2018-19 AP Implementation: Resources for teachers and students
Our AP teachers will have access to these exciting new resources:
AP question bank: A library of real AP Exam questions. With the question bank, teachers will be able to:
Performance results: Teachers will be able to review class and individual student performance, allowing them to see any content their students are struggling with.
Students can view their own results and target additional practice.
School and district leaders can review results across AP courses.
Filter by course topics and skills
Create practice assignments and give them online or on paper, in class or as homework
Generate their own questions
Encourage students to practice and get feedback on each question
These resources will be available at no cost to our school and any of our AP students, even those who choose not to take the AP Exam.

6. 2018-19 AP Implementation: Resources for teachers and students
AP Calculus AB* and World History teachers will have access to these additional resources:
Unit Guides: Optional planning guides that outline content and skills for topic areas within a course, so you can focus and deepen instruction. Each unit guide suggests sequence and pacing of content, scaffolds skill instruction across commonly-taught units, organizes content into topics, and outlines the focus of the unit tests.
Unit Tests: Formative questions that provide feedback to students on the areas where they need to focus. Unit tests include multiple-choice and free-response questions, measure skills in the context of the unit, provide scoring guidelines aligned to the AP rubric, and provide rationales to explain correct and incorrect answers.
These resources will be available at no cost to our school and any of our AP students, even those who choose not to take the AP Exam.
*AP Calculus BC teachers will also have access to the AP Calculus AB resources

7. 2018-19 AP Implementation: Resources for coordinators
Our AP coordinator will implement these new processes:
Streamlined exam ordering: Once teachers and students have completed the digital activation process, the AP coordinator will be able to access rosters of our AP students. The coordinator will review and adjust this information and submit it as the school’s exam order this fall.
Student registration labels: We’ll receive a set of personalized AP ID registration labels for each student included in our exam order. The AP ID connects students’ exam materials with their registration information, reducing the time students spend bubbling information on exam day.

9. 2018-19 AP Implementation: Exam ordering deadlines

This deadline is recommended, but optional.
Exams may be ordered without additional fees through the regular ordering deadline.
Regular Ordering Deadline
November 15, 2018, 11:59 p.m. ET
The school’s exam order must be submitted by this date.
After this date, exams may be added or canceled through the final ordering deadline.
Late orders or cancellations due to second-semester courses and/or students who transfer in or out of the school will not incur penalties.
In other cases, an additional late order fee of $40 per exam or a cancellation fee of $40 per exam will apply.
Final Ordering Deadline
March 1, 2019, 11:59 p.m. ET
This is the last day to add or cancel exams.
The full exam fee, less any applicable College Board fee reductions, will be owed for any exams that are part of a school’s exam order as of 11:59 p.m. ET on March 1, 2019; this includes any exam ordered for a student but which the student doesn’t take.
Ordering deadlines apply to all schools in the AP Implementation, including those outside the United States, U.S. territories, and Canada.

The late-testing fee has been reduced to $40 per exam, and is applied to all students in the same way, when applicable.
The unused exam fee no longer applies (the full exam fee, less any applicable College Board fee reductions, is charged for exams that remain part of the exam order as of 11:59 p.m. ET on March 1).
All other fees are the same as at other AP schools.

12. 2018-19 AP Implementation: Administrators – What you need to do
Share important access information with your AP Coordinator: On August 1, principals will receive AP Registration and Ordering access information for the coordinator.
Learn about the new resources: Watch the welcome video and review the information about the implementation.
Encourage your AP coordinator and AP teachers to attend live online sessions: Multiple sessions are offered beginning August 1. Registration is available now.
Remind your AP coordinator about recorded overview sessions: If your AP coordinator wasn’t able to attend the live online overview, recordings are available on the Implementation website.
Share the news with your school community: Use the downloadable communications toolkit materials to share this information with your staff and students. The materials include:
A calendar of key dates and deadlines
A list of training resources and events
A student and parent handout
An and letter that you can tailor to share with students and parents

13. 2018-19 AP Implementation: AP Coordinators – What you need to do
Learn about the new resources: Watch the welcome video and review the information about the implementation, including a recording of the live overview sessions if you weren’t able to attend.
Attend Live Online Sessions: Register for and attend live online sessions for “Initial Setup and Registration” (starting August 1) and “Exam Preparation and Ordering” (starting September 13).
Get the access code from your principal and begin activities in the system: Your principal will give you the AP Registration and Ordering system access code, which you’ll need for initial log in to the system. After logging in, complete initial setup steps, review and sign the AP Participation Form, and determine who will create class sections (you or teachers).
Read the AP Coordinator’s Manual, Part 1: Your principal will receive printed copies in the mail, and a downloadable version is available on the Implementation website.
Explore interactive tutorials: Access these self-guided modules within the AP Registration and Ordering system.

14. 2018-19 AP Implementation: AP Teachers – What you need to do
Review welcome and overview information: If you haven’t already done so, access this information on the Implementation website.
Utilize the training materials: Attend an “Introduction to the AP Classroom and the Question Bank” live online session.
Explore interactive tutorials: Access these self-guided modules within the AP Classroom system.
Talk to your AP coordinator about class sections: The AP coordinator or teachers can create class sections in the system. Talk to your AP coordinator to confirm who will create sections at your school.
Course Audit: If you’re a new AP teacher or teaching an AP course for the first time this year, make sure to complete the Course Audit form and have it approved by your school’s Course Audit administrator.
Review downloadable information: The Guide for Teachers and Administrators, and handouts for students and teachers, are available for download on the Implementation website.
Start using the new AP classroom resources with your students. Set up an online section for each of your classes so you can create assignments using AP questions and assign them to your students for in class activities, homework and assessments. Students enrolled in the system will get feedback on AP content and skills throughout the year.
