Our Mission:
We advance educational opportunities and attainment in Washington. In pursuit of our mission, the Washington Student Achievement Council:
Leads statewide strategic planning to improve educational coordination and transitions.
Supports Washingtonians through the administration of financial aid, a college savings plan, and support services.
Advocates for the economic, social, and civic benefits of postsecondary education.

24,836 high school seniors had the opportunity to participate in the th Year Campaign and 11,558 seniors have successfully completed the FAFSA.

4. Addressing Needs Geared toward 1st gen college-goers
Demystifies college application and financial aid processes
Helps students make personalized college choices
Supports seniors who may not otherwise apply
Celebrates application submission & creates college-going culture
Meeting the needs of seniors. 12th Year Campaign is geared toward 1st generation college-goers. In-school activities help demystify the college application and financial aid processes and help students make personalized college choices. The program supports seniors who may not otherwise apply. It celebrates application submission and helps create a college-going culture.

5. Applying for State Aid Complete a FAFSA or WASFA:
Each college determines financial aid eligibility based on awarding policies (SNG and CBS awards may vary by college).
State funding is limited. Students should apply as early as possible after October 1.
Students who are eligible for federal student aid submit a FAFSA to be considered for federal, state, and institutional aid.

This allows us to provide timely training on topics like the DRT outage.

7. FAFSA Completion Data Portal
Aggregate data is accessible by anyone
District employees can request access from their district data receiver as long as a data usage agreement is signed.
Can be used to see if a student has completed the FAFSA, submitted but with errors, or has not yet filed.
93% of districts have a signed data sharing agreement

11. What is the Data Telling Us?
There is still more work to be done to increase FAFSA completion in Washington State!
12th Year Campaign sites have a 7.93% higher FAFSA completion than non-sites.
Identifying districts and schools that need targeted assistance.
Identifying students that need additional assistance in successfully completing their financial aid application.
Sites had a 7.93% higher FAFSA Completion rate than non-sites as of 2/21/17.

12. Washington Student Achievement Council
th Year Campaign
Registration is open and 40 sites have signed up so far.
We are expanding beyond traditional high school and college sites. We will offer 12th Year Campaign events at libraries, community based organizations, and housing developments.
Provide new trainings for sites and materials to help families support their students in their first year of college.
MOU with Washington Financial Aid Association to provide early training and additional assistance to sites.
