2 Which is the easy & safest way for water Disinfection
Today’s Topic Which is the easy & safest way for water Disinfection

3 There are many ways to disinfect water.
It can be done by… Ozone UV Ionization Chemicals Etc.

4 Chemical disinfection
1 Chlorine is the most common chemical disinfectant but the question is: Is disinfection with Chlorine really safe and reliable?

5 This is what you are exposed to:
1.Use of chlorine is carcinogenic in drinking water (Mutagen X) Harvard Medical/ Barcelona Study 2007. 2. Use of chlorine causes TriHaloMethanes (THM) e.g. chloroform, bromodichloromethane, bromoform bromochloromethane. 3. Use of chlorine causes haloacetic acids (HAA) mono-,di and trichloroacetic acids and mono- and bromoacetic acids. 4. Mutagen X cancer potency is 170 times greater than chloroform. MX, THM and HAA are linked to cancer, miscarriages, stillbirths and birth defects

6 Other limitations of chlorine
1. Chlorine does not kill ALL micro-organisms in water 2. Chlorine is pH dependant 3. Chlorine is corrosive 4. Chlorine is hazardous to transport, store and use 5. Chlorine does not effectively remove the bio-film & algae. 6. Chlorine generates by-products that are a proven and permanent risk for human health.

7 Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2) So ClO2 is VERY different from Chlorine!!
It has Chlorine in the name but is NOT Chlorine Compare: H20 is 2 parts Hydrogen gas and 1 part Oxygen = Water and NOT Hydrogen nor Oxygen So ClO2 is VERY different from Chlorine!! 2

8 Facts about “traditional” Chlorine Dioxide:
It is a gas that explodes when in contact with air! Difficult and dangerous to deliver to water When delivered to water only 60%-70% pure The remaining 30%-40% are still dangerous and toxic residues However: As such however the BEST disinfectant existing says the WHO Improved purity and stability make it safer and more effective!

9 Thus to make a safe and clean disinfectant !
What was the challenge? To develop an innovative and revolutionary new concept that removes all side effects and by-products known from existing disinfectants. Thus to make a safe and clean disinfectant !

10 If we could make a pure ClO2 solution in water what would that mean?
A sublime disinfection power No more dangerous by-products Safe to human and animals Numerous applications A revolution in the world of water disinfection

11 Today we present you this revolution
After 8 years of intensive research, scientist were able to generate a pure ClO2 dissolved in water and called it:

12 What is Diamondoxide 1. A very powerful disinfectant
2. A cleaner of Bio-contamination (Bio-film & Bio-fouling)

13 What is Diamondoxide : The disinfectant
1. A 2-component liquid kit delivering: 99.99% pure 0.75% Chlorine Dioxide solution 2. A powerful oxidising agent of the FULL spectrum of micro-organisms 3. A product with the highest quality standards 4. A proven concept 5. An environmental friendly and 100% SAFE disinfectant. 6. Effective in a broad Ph range (4-10) 7. Easy to use without further big investments

14 What Diamondoxide does
100% effective against all water-borne micro-organisms and spore forming bacteria (Bacteria, Viruses, Protozoa, Fungi, Mould, Parasites, larval eggs, and Sediment) etc. 1 liter disinfects up to 150,000 liters of water Destroys algae-related taste and odour compounds (No taste, No smell) When Diamondoxide is applied the end products are a fraction of sodium sulphate (Na2SO4) and sodium chloride (NaCl). These substances are common in water;

15 What Diamondoxide does NOT
Does not chlorinate organic materials; no chlorates, chlorites, chloramines. NO FREE CHLORINES!!! Does not form THM’s, HAA’s and other organic compounds related to carcinogens (cancer) No build-up of resistance in target micro-organisms No residues formed No corrosion; i.e. of water distribution system, pipes, pumps, filters, domestic/commercial air conditioners, taps, showers, industrial equipment/factories

16 Comparison Facts Classical Method Diamondoxide method Form: Cl2: gas NaOCl: liquid Component A: Component B: Stability of Ingredients Very limited 2 years Composition of ClO2 solution Containing Free Chlorine Containing Chlorate Containing Chloride Containing Chlorite Explosive No Free Chlorine No Chlorate No Chloride No Chlorite Non-explosive Kinetic Half Time >30 days! (in solution form when storage conditions are respected)

19 What is Bio-film / Bio-fouling
Bio-film is the film of dirt, residues and micro-organisms in pipes, filters, pumps etc. .

20 Facts about Bio-film 1. Chlorine does NOT remove both layers
2. Chlorine cannot penetrate Bio-film and kill bacteria living in and behind this Bio-film. 3. Chlorine can only corrode the top layer. 4. Chlorine dioxide and Ionization penetrate the Bio-film. 5. Only complete removal of the Bio-film guarantees 100% save water at the tap 6. Chlorine dioxide removes the Bio-film and prevents the growth by a low continuous dosing.

25 Safe, reliable and simple water Disinfection
How to use it

26 Simple Application Simple instructions Water volume Component A first
Component B second Wait for 1-5 hours (depending on temperature) Diamondoxide ready for application

27 Dose/Measure Dosage rates according to your requirement
Simple (standard) dosing equipment and a PE-HD tank; Residual is measured by DPD Colorimetric Method (DPD 1); Residual is measured by ORP equipment; Residual is measured by Chlorine Dioxide Sensor Thick PE-HD storage tank (black colored).

28

29 Yield per litter The dosing capacity of 1 Liter Diamondoxide is calculated as following: Diamondoxide 0.75% = 7,5 gram ClO2 per liter = 7500 ppm/mg per liter 1 liter of Diamondoxide can disinfect: at 0.05 ppm dosing= 7500 ppm/0.02 ppm = liter of water. at 0.10 ppm dosing= 7500 ppm/0.10 ppm = liter of water. or Volume of water to be disinfected x dosage rate = ClO2 7500 ppm

30 Disinfection by-products
Disinfectant By-products Sodium / Calcium Hypochlorite trihalomethanes (THMs) haloacetic acids Haloacetonitriles haloketones chloral hydrate (trichloroacetaldehyde) Chloropicrin (trichloronitromethane) cyanogen chloride chlorate chloramines Mutagen X (MX) Ozone bromate aldehydes ketones ketoacids carboxylic acids bromoform “Classic” Chlorine Dioxide chlorite chloride free chlorine Diamondoxide none

31 Summary of advantages of Diamondoxide
Long shelf life (2 years guaranteed) Long stability (kinetic half time of the solution >30 days) 10 x more powerful than Chlorine No environmental or health issues No harmful by-products and end-products Not corrosive when dosed into the water. Low equipment investment Easy to dose, easy to control Kills 100% of water-borne pathogens Eliminates bio-film and prevents re-growth of bio-film.
