II. Cirrhosis Development of scar tissue which blocks the flow of blood through the liver and inhibits liver function Commonly caused by hepatitis, alcoholism, drugs, or fatty liver from obesity and diabetes

Caused by the build up of bilirubin – a yellow colored pigment found in red blood cells When old red blood cells are broken down, the liver is supposed to break down the bilirubin. Phototherapy – use light to break down bilirubiun
