2. MY TRIP DESTINATION : Ottawa, ONTARIO DURATION : 1 WEEK
WHEN: January 3 – January 10
WITH WHO : 1 (me) + x
PURPOSE: To have a chance to explore Canada’s capital city, visiting museums and landmarks, along with doing winter activities such as skating on the Rideau Canal, or snowboarding at Camp Fortune Resort.

3. GOALS
Skate on the world’s largest naturally frozen lake – The Rideau Canal Skate way,
Visit Parliament Hill
Snowboarding at Camp Fortune Resort
Explore art galley and museums.

4. WHY I CHOSE THIS?
I travelled to a lot of places across Canada, like Niagara Falls, Toronto, Ontario, Labrador, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, but never Ottawa and Ottawa is the capital city of Canada, right next to the border of Quebec, so this trip plan would give me a chance to final explore Canada’s capital, and find what it is all about.

Most attractions are in walking distance (20 minutes max.), Though may need to ride transit.
To get to Camp Fortune, taxi is the best option.

9. ITINERARY Jan 3rd Jan 4th 6:30a – Wake up, get ready, have breakfast
7:30a – Ride taxi to YVR airport (36 mins if light traffic)
8:06a – Arrive to YVR, check-in luggage, have tickets and go through security check. Then find gate and wait for boarding.
9:25a – Boarding flight 338 for Ottawa (YOW). Duration 4h 23 mins
4:58p – Land in Ottawa, un-board plane, go to claim luggage (and remember you are jetlagged by 3 hours)
5:30p – Ride taxi to the Metcalfe hotel and check –in. Find room and un pack.
6:00p – Go to have dinner in hotel restaurant, than explore hotel.
7:00p – Head to room and ready for sleep
8:00p – Try to get use to new time zone and sleep.
8:30 – slowly wake up, get dress and head for breakfast.
9:00a – Head to Rideau Canal, and as far as possible.
12;00p – Head to hotel, for lunch
1:00p – 2:00p Leave hotel to ride transit to get to Canada Science and technology museum.
2;00- 5:00 p – Explore Canada Science and Technology Museum
5-6p – Head back toward hotel and eat at restaurant on the way (subway)
6;30p – Walk and explore downtown Ottawa though not to far from hotel,
8:00p – Head to room, make tea and go swim in in-door pool for a half-hour.
9:00p – ready for bed.

9;00 – slowly wake up, get dress and head for breakfast.
9:45 – walk to National Gallery of Canada
1:00p – 2:00p Lunch
2;00- 6:00 p – Walk and explore CF Rideau Centre (SHOPPING!)
6;30p –Back at hotel, have dinner and relax
8:00p – 10:00p – Ride taxi to Wesley Clover Parks for Magic of Lights even
10;30 – Ready for bed.
8:30a Sleep in, wake up, get dressed, have breakfast
10:00a – take transit to Canada Aviation and Space museum (56 mins)
11:00a – 3:00p admission at CASM and explore, and have lunch.
4:00p – 5:00p – Practice skating at Rideau Canal,
5:25p – back to hotel for dinner
6-6:45p – Swim in in-door pool.
7:00p- relax in room
9:00p - sleep

8:30a Sleep in, wake up, get dressed, have breakfast
9:00a – Walk to Parliament hill for excursion. (15mins)
9;10a – 12:50p – go on free tour about history of the Parliament Hill, and visit senate to witness live debates.
1:00p – 2:00p – Lunch
2:00p – 5:30p – walk from parliament hill to Canada museum of nature.
5:30 – 6;30p – dinner
6:30 – 9:00p – Skating at parliament hill.
9:00a - Wake up, have breakfast.
10:00a – Relax
1:00 – 7:00p – Ride taxi (53mins) to Camp Fortune Resort, and snowboard, than ride back to hotel ,
7:00 – Rest and relax, have tea, read a book in room
9:30p – go to sleep.

8:30a – Wake up, get dressed have breakfast
9:00a – 12:00p – Riding Amphibious lady drive and Double decker “Ottawa city tour”.
12:00p – lunch
1:00p – relax and slowly pack up for trip home, but walk around the block.
3:00p – swimming in pool
4:00 – early dinner
4:00 – relaxing, watch TV, read book, etc
6:30 – early sleep.
3:30a – Wake up,get ready, have tea, check out of hotel
4:15a – Ride taxi to YOW airport (36 mins if light traffic)
5:00a – Arrive to airport, check-in luggage, have tickets and go through security check. Then find gate. Get breakfast and wait for boarding.
7:00a – Boarding Flight 341 for Ottawa (YOW). Duration 4h 23 mins
9:29a – Land back in Vancouver (YVR), un board plane, claim luggage, and head home.

13. PREPARATION 2 days before, reserve skating passes for Rideau Canal.
Maybe brief on some Canadian French since Ottawa is next to Quebec border and neighboring city of Chelsea, QU.
Check with airline if able to bring figure skates with me. If not, then check for where can get rentals.

15. REVIEWS Overview of Ottawa
Ottawa is a compact, clean, cleverly planned centre of culture and politics. And it's an ideal choice for a weekend getaway. Start downtown at the architecturally stunning National Gallery of Canada, and don't miss the Canadian Nature Museum and the National Aviation Museum. Rideau Canal offers boating in the summer and ice-skating in the winter. Gatineau Park attracts cyclists and walkers, while Byward Market blends old and new Ottawa.
