Work Force Military: Representatives from all four major branches on campus ASVAB given once a year in November Technical Colleges Trident Tech Youth Apprentice Programs (being in 11th grade) Diploma programs (usually one year) Certificate programs (usually two years) AA degree (usually two years) University Transfer programs (2 plus2) 2 year colleges (i.e. Spartanburg Methodist, USC Union & USC Salkehatchie) Four Year Colleges and Universities

1. Types of courses taken (CP, Honors, AP, DC) 2. Grades in courses 3. SAT and ACT performance 4. Who is your student?

10 College Credit in High School
Advanced Placement (AP) Considered to be the most rigorous courses taken in High School Wando currently offers more than 20 AP Courses National Exams in May : Scores Determine College Credit Trident Technical College: Dual Credit High School and College Credit i.e. Trident Tech. English 101= High School English 4 College Credits may be transferrable but check with individual colleges ACT/SAT/Accuplacer scores needed to qualify

PSAT 10th & 11th grade Evidenced Based Reading (EBR) & Math (M) Writing optional, but colleges want at least one test (SAT or ACT)with writing Score range 200-8o0 each section Average score 1100 (total of EBR & M sections) ACT English, Math, Reading, Science Reasoning Writing optional but colleges want at least one test (SAT or ACT)with writing Score range from 1-36 each section Composite score average (average of all four sections) Four year colleges will accept either SAT or ACT. Recommended students take both.

14 Types of Scholarships Institutional Scholarships- State Scholarships-
given by colleges to students who enroll that are from resources within the college’s scholarship pool of money State Scholarships- given by the state from the S.C. Education Lottery money Needs-Based Scholarship- given by Federal, State or local resources based on financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) info or other financial criteria Sponsored Scholarships- given by organizations or local entities for a variety of criteria

for in-state public or private college/universities Palmetto Fellows (four year college only)- 1st year-$6700 (can be renewed each year) Must have all 3 of the following: 1200 SAT or 27 ACT, 3.5 cumulative weight SC UGP GPA Top 6% of class at end of 10th, 11th or 12th grade OR 1400 SAT or 32 ACT AND 4.0 Cumulative SC UGP GPA

Life Scholarship 4 yr college: up to $5000 for first year Must meet 2 or 3 criteria 3.0 SC UGP GPA Cumulative Top 30% at end of senior year 1100 SAT or 24 ACT OR 2 year college: up to $5000 3.0 SC UPG cumulative GPA at end of senior year No SAT/ACT or rank requirement Life Scholarship is renewable each year based on student’s college GPA and credits earned

17 State Sponsored Scholarships
