AFA Organization (Introduction)
Hello…welcome to the introduction of a series of training modules entitled “AFA Organization” My name is Riq Baldwin, and before becoming a chapter president eight years ago, I had no notion of the administrative structure of the AFA outside the chapter organization itself, and for that matter, I had no clue as to how National AFA intended the local chapter to be organized. Well, now… eight years later, I think I finally have a handle on how the AFA is structured, and my job, with this series of training modules is to considerably shorten the time it takes you to accumulate and assimilate the same information…Lets get started. 1

Treasurer (Secretary/Treasurer) Aerospace Ed. Communications Govt. Relations Veterans Affairs Airman & Family Programs Community Partners Leadership Dev. Membership The Field Operations Guide mandates that each chapter consists of (click) an elected President, Executive Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer…and if manpower is scarce, the Secretary and Treasurer can be combined into a single position. National also recommends (click) a stable of appointed Vice Presidents to help focus the efforts of the Chapter where they’re needed. How a chapter is constituted, though, will depend considerably on how many AFA members actively participate in the chapter, and where it’s located. Is it situated in a rural or urban environment…is it near an Air Force Installation, College, Large or Small School system, VA home or hospital, an ROTC, JrROTC, or CAP unit, or a Silver Wings or Arnold Air Society organization…all these things, and more, will determine the actual makeup of the Chapter’s Executive Council. We’ll get more into the specifics of the Chapter organization and position responsibilities in Part 2 of this training series. (slide) 3

According to the FOG, this tear of leadership is constituted much the same as the Chapter Organization with a (click) President, Executive Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, or Secretary-Treasurer, and it’s own group of (click) vice presidents to service the needs of its chapters. AFA Organization Introduction
This brings us to the end of AFA Organization Part 1. As you can see over there in the margin… …we have three survey questions for you…the training subcommittee is very interested in knowing if you think this training module is worth while, did you find any errors, and is there anything you think we can do to improve this training module in the future. Please take a moment or two to let us know how we’re doing…Meanwhile, I look very-much forward to speaking with you again in the next part of our series. 10
