About Me Born in Michigan and moved to Virginia at the age 3. Attended K-12 in LCPS Graduated from Radford University in 2004 with a BA in Elementary Education Taught 2nd grade at NLE for 11 years. 1st year teaching 3rd grade

Attendance Agendas School begins promptly at 7:50 am
Please let me know in advance if your child will be absent for an extended period of time Make-up work will be provided after the student returns to school Adequate time will be given to complete make-up assignments Agendas Assignments written daily Homework will also be posted on the website Reading and Math Homework Daily Taken home every evening Check and sign nightly

Birthdays Please refer to the Student Handbook regarding birthday and party foods and invitations at school Non-food items to celebrate your child’s special day Invitations may be distributed if each child receives one Register with PTO for your directory

Lunch Our class will eat lunch M-F from 11:10-11:40
Our ice cream day will be every Wednesday If you plan to join your child for lunch please make sure to not bring in any restaurant food If you would like to purchase a school lunch, please have your child sign you up for a lunch choice in the morning Please be sure to check in at the office before entering the cafeteria. The Food Service Department of Loudoun County Public Schools has made it possible to pay your child’s lunch via the Internet. You can access the web page at If you plan on sending money to school, please send it in an envelope or baggie with your child’s first and last name along with their lunch number.

Transportation Students are required to go home each day as indicated at the beginning of the year Please send in a note that explains any change in transportation from school Students will not be allowed to go home any other way without a note Changes to dismissal procedures can be assured if received before 12 noon If a change is necessary by please CC Angela Ferrar in the office to ensure the request is received

Phoenix For the 2016 school year, all teachers will continue to use Phoenix Grade Book to enter student grades. Parents and students will also still have access to a new and improved portals called ParentVUE and StudentVUE. Parents and students will have near real-time access to information on assignments and grades, attendance, class schedules, graduation status and more. ParentVUE offers a single sign-on to view school information for all siblings, regardless of the grade level or school of attendance.

Grading Grading will be 1, 2, 3, 4 (with pluses)
Percentages will not be given on tests, instead it will be on the 4 point scale and they will also not have a letter grade assigned. Report cards will still have a letter assigned. Based on mastery and going ‘beyond’ established goals for an “A” Grades will be updated quickly onto Phoenix Papers will be sent home on Thursdays
