Print making – stencil and screen-printing Sewing machine skills Experimenting with fibres & fabrics Batik, fabric painting, dyeing Weaving Pattern making & 3D construction Observational drawing and photography Fashion Illustration Critical reference – looking at the work of other artists and designers

4 Workshops & Gallery Visits
Induction day for yr9 including a trip to Cambridge Botanical Gardens and Art Gallery Art trips in the Spring Term have previously included Amsterdam, Paris, New York and Berlin Visit to exhibitions e.g. ‘Knitting and Stitching Show’.

8 Assessment for GCSE Art courses
Coursework (60% of marks) All work covered in year (including mock exam) Timed Assignment (40% of marks) A theme or title is set by the exam board, such as ‘Ordinary/Extraordinary’ & ‘Past Present and Future’. Students have approx. 8 weeks planning followed by 2 full days to produce a piece of work based on the theme. An exhibition of the work is held at the end of yr11.

10 Progression to A’level Textiles
Grade 6 in Art or Textiles is required in order to continue to A’ level Textiles Students often follow the A’ level course with a one year Art Foundation course, before choosing their specialised Art degree. Several students have gone on to study fashion marketing, fashion journalism and fashion photography
