17 The Evolution of STEP 2011-present

18 Past… Lengthy, tedious, and manual application process
Downloading of PDF application Scanning and returning to HQ for processing Staff had to print and review each application Staff approval with limited volunteer input Transition of approval process from staff to volunteer Volunteer-volunteer interaction (SAC/GOLD Liaison) Networking opportunities Excellent feedback to drive quality programs Proposed changes in criteria

19 Present… Automation Auto-reply messages and notifications
Applications submitted online Collateral provided for ease of volunteer approval Improved communication between volunteers, staff, applicants and Sections Improved Tracking/Reporting/Statistics Response times Volunteer input to drive quality local experience Developed Standard Operating Procedures Addresses coverage issues Allows for modification of criteria Documents staff duties by funding type and follow up

20 The (not so distant) future…
Reconsider criteria and revise STEP Manual Re-introduce humanitarian concepts Improve kit to include a refresh of materials Develop and implement strategy to include additional quality drivers and celebration of successful events Webinars on “How to Conduct a Meaningful STEP Event” Continuous enhancements to include: 24 hour response to initial inquiry Streamlined funding process Link to centralized database to measure ROI Even better connections between GOLD Affinity Groups, Branches and Sections
