1 How to Play By : Courtnie Thomas Parker 8th Hour 10/10/2016

2 Purpose You may have heard of volleyball being a more intensified version of “Don’t let the balloon hit the floor” but I am here to tell you that there is way more to it then just not letting the ball drop. Many people say that volleyball is easy, while never having stepped foot on an official court, and probably never served a ball in their life. Volleyball takes speed, agility, quick thinking, discipline and the capability and willingness to get down and Dirty.

3 Requirements An Average sized volleyball net - 8 feet. Knee pads.
Proper Athletic Shoes. Extra protection (Not necessary) -Ankle guards -Arm sleeve elbow pads

4 Basics How to Pass How to Serve How to Set
How to Hit with Full approach How to Be an Active Bench Teamate

5 Spots & Position on the court.
Service spot aka “Right Back” General setter spot. Or Right side hitter. Middle Hitter. Outside Hitter. Left Back. Middle Back Also on the court : Up-ref, Down-ref, and a line judge on opposite corners of the court.

6 Defensive Specialists.
If you didn’t know, this is the official name for each of the backrow players including the Libero. Their job is to basically set the play with a great pass to the setter when the opposing team serves. The ball almost never comes directly to a passer so this is where the quick feet come in. These players have to be most discipline because they also are expected to pass the hits that the opposing team gives.

7 Front Row Players There are two hitters and a setter in the front row. These are the primary offensive players on the court. After the setter is given a pass from the back row, she has the choice to set her Middle or Outside hitter. If you are a more competitive team, for random example Cass Tech Varsity volleyball team, there are different patterns to hitting than just middle and outside. These are different plays practiced by the team to keep the opposing team on their toes, which they will need to be..

9 Conclusion ! Volleyball is a sport like others, that has parts similar to a machine. No position can do its job without the other. There is no ” I “ in team and there is no” I” in Volleyball.
