6 Proctor Qualifications
Members of the University of North Carolina Online Proctoring Network must meet a set of qualifications and follow specified guidelines to be an approved participant in the vital network of proctors. Proctor Qualifications Become a Proctor

The location, space, and layout of the proctoring location are vital to the accomplishment of its mission. Proctoring Environment

10 Equipment and Space Personal laptops
Faculty members cannot require/request for proctors to download special software (e.g., Respondus Lockdown Browser) for exam appointments. Hardware and software requirements for computerized testing will be set at a basic level that allows usage by multiple testing programs.  Proctoring space

11 Pre-Exam Preparations
Download exam materials 1-2 business days prior to exam appointments and store exam materials in a secure location.

12 Exam Information The proctor will keep the exam secure and confidential at all times.

13 Administering the Exam
Admit and sign in examinees according to exam instructions, collect required forms, and check the identification of the examinee. Show Show the examinee where to sit. Require Require the examinee to sign in with their name, date, and time. Ask Ask examinee to put all unnecessary items in a secure location and to turn off their cellphones. The examinee must not have unapproved electronics in the testing space. 1. Ask the examinee to log into their course management system (for example: Blackboard, Moodle, and Sakai are online course management systems) and open the exam link. Administering the Exam

1. Monitor the examinee. A. Try to keep the examinee in your field of vision. B. If proctoring for more than one examinee quietly circulate throughout the proctoring site. Administering the Exam

1. Collect all exam materials (including scratch paper). 2. If dry erase boards are allowed, verify that the board is completely erased. 3. Make sure that the examinee’s name is on all the exam materials. 4. If the examinee borrowed any materials make sure that they are returned. 5. Ask the examinee to sign out with their name and time. 6. Please use the “Finalize” action within the online system to record the finalized of the exam as well as note any suspected cheating or irregularities. The exam is not considered finalized until you sign-off accordingly. Administering the Exam

1. Remove keyboards and other objects that may hinder the examinee’s testing space. 2. Make sure that the examinee has the necessary testing materials noted on the exam instructions. 3. Return the exam according to the instructor’s directions. If possible return the exam on the same day that it was taken. Administering the Exam

Exams are administered by appointment only and must be arranged in advance. The library does not guarantee the availability of a proctor. The library agrees to provide a reasonably quiet space for students to undertake the exam but students should be mindful that the library is a public place. 02 Best Practices:

The student must make arrangements with the examining institution to have written exams sent or delivered to the Proctoring Coordinator at the library.
