2 What is food Waste Food  waste is when food that people have bought are thrown away to the landfill and produces methane because it cannot compost and turn into dirt. Food waste is food that are unwanted and thrown away mostly because its rotten, or they cook too much and end up not eating it all or people buy the same thing without making sure they have it.

3 Why is food waste a problem
FOOD WASTE IS A PROBLEM BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE WASTING THEIR MONEY ON BUYING FOOD AND THROWING IT AWAY AND SPENDING MONEY ON SOMETHING THEY JUST THREW AWAY. WASTED FOOD ALSO EQUALS TO WASTED EFFORT, ALL THE EFFORT USED TO PLANT, WATER, HARVEST, PACKAGE AND SEND TO YOUR LOCAL SUPERMARKET.

4 How is food waste effecting the world
FOOD WASTE IS A PROBLEM BECAUSE IT CANNOT TURN INTO COMPOST, FOOD CANNOT TURN INTO COMPOST BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH OXYGEN AND LIGHT FOR IT TO COMPOST DOWN.

5 Why do we need to fix the problem
We need to fix the problem because every time we throw our food away , it goes to land fill and produces methane. Methane absorbs the sun heat, that makes atmosphere more warm.

6 Solutions There are many ways to prevent food waste just by doing these simple things:  Make a list of what you need before going to the shops  Check your cupboard and fridge before going to the shops   Each left overs for lunch  Make sandwiches or muffins with food you have  Freeze food that you won’t be able to use in time

7 Why do we waste food We don't know how to use leftovers
We cook too much food  Food is mistakenly thrown before the use-by/best before date  We don't check the pantry before going shopping  Buying takeaways at the last minute instead cooking the food we have at home  We buy too much because we often stick of a shopping and we often shop when we're hungry

8 Facts about food waste Farmers in Queensland throw away 1/3 of their crops just because they are a different colour or because its fallen on the ground. Approximately one third of the food produced in the world for human eating  (roughly 1.3 billion tones )          gets wasted.  The amount of food  wasted every year is equivalent to more than half of the world's annual cereals crop (2.3 billion tones.  Even if just one-fourth of the food currently lost or wasted globally could be saved, it would be enough to feed 870 million hungry people in the world.  Aussies discard up to 20% of the food they buy  The average Australian household wastes $1036 of food every year which is enough to feed you for a month  Australians throw out   tones of food each year  Young consumers (18-24) waste the most food, Family with Children and Households with more than a $100000 income.  Of the average household bin, up to 40% is food.  When we waste food we also waste the water, fuel and recourses  that it took to get the food from the paddock to the plate.
