2 French & Indian War What were France and Britain fighting over?
Which “side” were the Native American’s on? What was Ben Franklin’s role? What was George Washington’s role? When date did the war begin? What did Parliament send to help the British defeat the French? When did the French & Indian War end? What agreement was signed? What was land did the winning team gain? Ohio River Valley Tribes fought for both sides. 3 No Taxation Without Representation!
Parliament approved a tax law that put taxes on paper items: Newspapers Legal Documents Playing Cards Facts: Many people in colonies were furious that the British were taxing them and they spoke out. People committed treason In 1766 the Stamp Act was Repealed No Taxation Without Representation! Stamp Act: 1765

4 Townshend Act: 1767 Taxed Imports: Glass Tea Paint Paper
Parliament set up a new group of tax collectors. Taxed Imports: Glass Tea Paint Paper Believed they had the right to make laws for the colonists. Colonists Boycotted: Daughters of Liberty asked people to stop drinking British Tea. Merchants in Boston wouldn’t import taxed goods. People didn’t paint their houses. 1770: Parliament repealed all of the Townshend Acts EXCEPT FOR THE TEA… Townshend Act: 1767 Watch this video clip about Tensions Between the Colonists and the British.

5 Loyalist Redcoat Lobster
Colonists gathered near the British soldiers near the Old State House. They shouted at the soldiers and threw rocks and snowballs at them. Soldiers opened fire and 5 colonists were killed. 6 Boston Tea Party: 1773 East India Company had a monopoly on tea.
The Tea Act was passed by Parliament in 1773 East India Company had a monopoly on tea. (A monopoly gives complete control over a good or service.) (Not this kind  ) Colonies Boycotted Tea: Colonists HAD to buy their tea from the East India Company. Some decided not to buy, others made their own from local sassafras trees. 7 Would You Like a Cup of Tea?
November ships reach Boston’s Harbor. December 16th, 150 members of the Sons of Liberty dressed as members of the Mohawk tribe. They broke open 300 chests of tea and threw them into the harbor. Boston Tea Party: 1773 Watch the PBS video on the Boston Tea Party
