Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)?
Assists student learning experience Students have a choice in their learning style and needs (differentiation) Student engagement Learning beyond the classroom space Allows for more small group teaching and learning Communication and collaboration among students

How will the devices be used in the classroom?
Projects Research Response device for assessments Presentations Access to fiction and nonfiction books online Edmodo, a secure social website where students will be able to retrieve and submit assignments

What are the responsibilities of the student?
Students should only use device for the purpose of the activity put forth (for example, research) If device is being used for other reasons (games, not an educational purpose, taking pictures of students and sending to friends) it can be taken away While communicating on educational Internet sites, students must treat everyone with respect; just like in a classroom setting (digital citizenship will be discussed in class) Students are responsible for his/her own device (cases or covers are recommended) *Cobb County is not liable for stolen, lost or damaged devices Students should have devices charged and ready for use Using devices to record, transmit, or post photos or videos to Facebook, Youtube, etc.,

What is acceptable use of the device?
Students may only access the internet using the CCSD BYOD wireless network. Students may use their devices when under the supervision of a BYOD teacher. Students may not use their devices during state or district testing.

The school reserves the right to inspect a student’s personal device if there is a reason to believe that the student has violated Board policies, administrative procedures, school rules, or has engaged in other misconduct while using their personal devices AND any violation of policies, procedures, or rules may result in the loss of use of the device.

Office 365 Free for all Cobb Students Can Install on 5 Computers and 5 Mobile Devices Will Use in Both Rooms with BYOD

Grades Grades will be recorded on Synergy and parents will receive a login to check the status of their students grades If in danger of receiving a C or lower on report card parents will receive an academic update.
