11. PSLE – Absence of Candidate
If a candidate is unable to take the papers, a doctor’s medical certificate certifying that the child is unfit for examinations is required by SEAB.
Make-up for Oral Examinations at an external Examination Centre.
No make-up for all written papers.

13. Direct School Admission (DSA)
Provide holistic education by giving participating sec schools greater flexibility in selecting students
Participating secondary schools select a certain % of their student intake for admission outside the Sec 1 posting exercise
These schools may select students with diverse academic and non-academic achievements and talents before the PSLE

15. Successful DSA Students
Successful DSA students will be informed of the DSA school they have been admitted to through their Primary School on PSLE results release day.
They will not be allowed to make any school choices in the Sec 1 posting exercise.

16. Unsuccessful DSA Students
Unsuccessful DSA students will be issued with a S1 Option Form, informing them that their DSA application is unsuccessful.
They have to submit their school choices during the S1 Option period to participate in the S1 Posting Exercise. 16

17. Sec 1 Posting Exercise
PSLE students (non-DSA) and unsuccessful DSA candidates will participate in S1 Posting Exercise to opt for secondary schools
Successful DSA candidates will participate in S1 Posting Exercise to opt for Foreign Languages / Elective Programmes / Course options if eligible
S1 Option is made after the release of PSLE results

18. What happens if a child is not eligible for Secondary School?
Repeat another year
Alternatively, pupils who can benefit from a more customised and practice based curriculum may apply to specialised schools such as Northlight School

19. Questions to consider in selecting a Sec School
How far is the school from my home?
What are the programmes and schemes available in the school?
What are the school’s strengths?
Do the co-curricular activities offered by the school match my child’s interest?
Does the secondary school have posting aggregate ranges (from previous years) that are comparable to my child’s PSLE aggregate?
Is the secondary school affiliated to any schools?
Does the school cater to my child’s special learning needs?

20. Progress to Sec School Education
4 standard subjects
Posted to a course suitable for child i.e. Integrated Programme (IP), Express, Normal (Academic), Normal (Technical)
4 examinable foundation subjects
Normal (Technical) course unless child does exceptionally well, in which may qualify for Normal (Academic) course
A mixture of standard and foundation subjects
Chances of qualifying for Normal (Academic) course will be higher when performed well in his PSLE

21. Being absent from school without a valid reason will be treated as TRUANCY.
A Medical Certificate (MC) or a letter of excuse with valid reasons from parents/guardians is mandatory.
