Data management plan = DMP A short document made in the beginning of the project outlining how data will be managed throughout its life span DMP defines e.g.: How the data will be created? How it will be documented? Who will be able to access it? Where it will be stored? Whether (and how) it will be shared & preserved? Good data management saves time Planning ahead your data management needs will save time and resources Maintains data integrity Managing and documenting your data throughout its life cycle will allow you and others to understand and use your data in the future Ensures that the good scientific practice is followed Data is deposited in a safe and secure manner To safeguard your investment of time and resources to the research project Research funders require data management plans TITLE #2 HOW? WHEN? In the beginning of the project Careful planning makes data sharing and reuse possible at all stages of research Throughout data life cycle during and even after your research project it is important to make sure that data will be maintained and reserved so that it will be findable, accessible, interoperable and re-usable by your research partners or whoever is interested about it. DMPTuuli-tool: Designed for researchers and research organisations for creating data management plans Assists in data management planning at all stages of research Includes institutional and funder guidelines and further information on how to make a proper DMP OPEN DATA? AS OPEN AS POSSIBLE – AS CLOSED AS NECESSARY FAIR principles for research data (by European Comission): Findable Accessible Interoperable Re-usable Ask more Visit
