2 How to Contact Campus Safety
Campus Safety is located in C114, phone: © After 4pm, a uniformed Campus Security Officer is located at the main entrance reception desk, ph:

Escorts to your vehicle Jumpstart a dead battery, put air in a tire Lost & Found Campus ID badge (C114) File an Incident Report Investigate suspicious behavior Provide patrols in the building and parking lot Emergency Response

Parking Lot speed limit - 5 MPH There is no overnight parking on campus

5 Calling for emergency assistance….
Phones in classrooms and conference rooms Emergency (Call Box) phones in hallways

6 Calling for emergency assistance….
In a faculty, staff or administrative office In the parking lot There are emergency phones with blue lights above them

7 On site help…. By dialing 911 on any of the previously mentioned phones, members of our campus Emergency Response Team (ERT) are automatically notified of the location where the call came from and will respond to the emergency situation. (using your cell phone)

9 Non Emergency Behavioral Issues
YCCC’s At-risk Student Support, Intervention and Success Team (ASSIST) develops timely responses and interventions for students who exhibit erratic, disruptive and/or harmful behavior both in and out of the classroom. Please contact the Dean of for more information.

10 Public Address System The PA System may be used to make announcements and give directions to be followed during an urgent or emergency situation. Speakers are located both inside and outside the building. ERT members will help direct you if there is an urgent or emergency situation on campus

11 Examples of using the PA include:
Lockdown – used if there is a threat outside or in the vicinity off campus Shelter in place – used for weather related emergencies Evacuate –unsafe condition exists within the building Internal Threat– used if the threat is in the building (time permitting)

12 Lockdown Procedures CLOSE & LOCK doors Shut off lights
CLOSE the blinds or shades MOVE away from doors & windows STAY where you are REMAIN quiet Silence your cell phones

13 Shelter-in-Place An ERT member will make an announcement providing information and directions to be followed. The goal is for everyone to remain inside until the threat is over.

14 Internal Threat Run: If there is an accessible escape path, attempt to evacuate the premises Hide: If evacuation is not possible, find a place to hide Fight: As a last resort, and only when your life is in imminent danger, confront the threat

15 RUN If there is an escape path, attempt to evacuate.
Evacuate whether others agree or not. Leave your belongings behind. Help others escape if possible. Prevent others from entering the area. Call 911 when you are safe.

16 HIDE Lock and/or blockade the door. Silence your cell phone.
Hide behind large objects. Remain vey quiet. Your hiding place should: Be out of the shooter’s view Provide protection if shots are fired in your direction.

18 Building Evacuation When the Fire alarm is activated, evacuation is MANDATORY-do not assume it is a drill. You may also be instructed verbally to evacuate

21 When evacuating…. Remain calm WALK – do NOT run to the posted exits
Do NOT jam or crowd exits Assemble in front parking lot, along the wooden rail at your designated station unless directed elsewhere by ERT members or emergency responders Alert ERT and/or emergency responders if someone needs assistance evacuating the building

22 Keeping track of one another…..
Staff should gather with their department Faculty should remain with their students/class Wait for directions from an ERT member on whether to leave campus or re-enter the building.
