Life Beyond DSSS Good morning Grade 11’s! The time has come to pick your classes for your last year of high school! Are you ready? I’ll take about 30 mins tops to give you some guiding tips on doing this and then you will go to your classes to receive your course selection sheet with the list of classes to choose from. Credit History / OSSD Requirements
In order to graduate from high school and attend our Commencement Ceremony in June 2019 you must ensure you have met the following criteria: Earned 30 credits 18 compulsory credits and 12 optional credits Literacy Requirement Passed the OSSLT test or Earned the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course Earned 40 hours of Community Involvement These are the requirements to ensure you graduate from high school. You also need to ensure you meet the post secondary requirements. ***YOU will NOT be allowed to attend PROM if community hours haven’t been completed!

Diploma requirements Gr. 12 English and additional gr. 11 and/or 12 U/M/C courses are considered for admission. May be specific course requirements such as; Math May be recommended courses NO higher standing is given to U or M level courses at most colleges. Some programs require a portfolio, audition or interview – Prepare for this!

University ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS require six Gr. 12 U or M courses
English is a MUST Specific courses dependent on program May be restrictions to # of M courses from one discipline Ranges – not “cutoffs,” guidelines Additional admission requirements Personal Experience forms- complete them Summer, online and private courses

Level One Accelerated OYAP Programs in Peel
Is for graduating Gr. 12 students in a 4 credit co-op placement who have applied, been interviewed and offered admission into Basic Level 1 apprenticeship training at a college or training centre. The students have a co-op employer who agrees to sponsor them to become a registered apprentice before the program starts. (Some exceptions) Accelerated OYAP students are experienced and eager to start their career in the skilled trades. If interested, see your Guidance Counsellor NOW!

English Proficiency If English is NOT your first language and/or you have NOT been in an English language school for high school you MAY need to complete an English Proficiency Test if applying to university or college! See Post-Secondary Institution website for details or see your counsellor!

1st upload-November (grade 11 marks) Marks used for early acceptance 2nd upload-February semester 1 final marks 3rd upload- May semester 2 midterms Used to send out conditional offers 4th upload-July semester 2 finals Used to confirm marks and graduation status
