Retention and graduation rates are rising, and time to degree is falling. Retention rates (freshmen returning for sophomore year) are at an all-time high Better than 95 percent, compared to Big Ten average of 92 percent Retention gap between white students and underrepresented students of color has closed Four-year and six-year graduation rates continue at all-time highs Time to graduation continues to fall; undergrads complete degrees in an average of 4.03 years — down from 4.22 years 10 years ago

18 Scholarship Support UW competes with peer institutions to attract and enroll talented students, regardless of their economic backgrounds In 2016, 58 percent of students who applied to the UW but did not enroll cited scholarships and financial aid as determining factors in their decision to go elsewhere Generous donors have provided matching funds to support need- and merit-based scholarships that will help recruit and retain the best students.

Chancellor’s Scholarship Program Match Full-tuition scholarships that help attract and develop talented individuals from underrepresented minority groups and disadvantaged backgrounds Five-year pledges, starting at $125,000 A gift of $125,000 will be matched to create a full scholarship for an in-state student A gift of $350,000 creates a scholarship for an out-of-state student

Morgridge Need-Based Scholarship Match 1:1 match for new or enhanced need-based scholarship funds for undergraduates Financial need is the primary criterion The match applies to commitments from individuals ranging from $50,000 to $1,000,000 (payable over five years)

Nicholas Merit-Based Match 1:1 match to help attract the best in-state students to the UW Scholarships are directed to our top recruits based on academic talent The minimum commitment is $125,000 (paid over five years)
